Where the fuck did I put my waxed cotton/speedy stitcher/heavy needles kit? It’s in a whisky tin, Glenturret I believe.
Fucking fuckers. -

I really like the Rapha tech shorts, but I've realised on long rides the stitching on the bottom of the 'bum pockets' is right under my sit bones (or close enough) that it's causing a bit of grief.
Anyone know of any shorts that are a similar cut, but don't have bum pockets? And super ideally have normal pockets and one of those side leg pockets?

What to do with/where to dispose of damaged kitchen knives?
-
• #123505
Knife amnesty box? Or give away on the knife thread to practice sharpening.

How badly damaged?
Broken plastic handle = wrapped in cardboard with ‘sharp’ written on it, in recycling bin. Very damaged or chipped blade but it’s a good knife with lots of metal left = might be of interest to a makerspace or community kitchen who can restore it.

I've just fitted a Brand X xl dropper post, its brand new. I know that a bit of side to side play is normal but this one has a bit of fore and aft play too.
I've had a few dropper over the years, always had a bit of side to side play but never fore and aft. Is this normal on the brand-x droppers?
I've tried google but all the results are people asking about side to side play. -

Yeah I looked into this a while back and it’s not straightforward but there are a couple of options. Problem with chucking them into your domestic recycling is that it’s usually sorted by hand on a big conveyor belt so it’s not very nice for the workers to find sharps like kitchen knives whizzing past. Knife amnesty box at the local police station is the best option but obvs relies on having an actual local nick you can walk into. Metal recycling at the tip I’m pretty sure is just shredded and sorted by machine, so little or no risk to workers. And you can at least ask someone there if that’s the best place or if they have a sharps box. Another good suggestion when I got rid of my last lot was to take a file or grinder to the cutting edge and the tip to basically make it useless as a knife before disposal. Then it can’t harm anyone whatever you do with it 👍

Anyone know a way to save a Google Maps route to your account in order to open it again in the phone app?
Basically you can only drag the line around on desktop browser, and then using the "send to phone" thing doesn't actually give you the same route, just the auto route between the start and end points.
I can't use the "add stops" thing to make the same route on mobile, coz I won't be able to tap the button to move onto the next destination.

There is a way but it's complicated, will edit in with links as I piece it together again.
Edit: might be as simple as going here, whilst logged in
https://www.google.com/maps/d/
From there you can make a map, and the preview link will open it in the maps app proper, with the actual route saved, rather than just points of interest

thanks for this - its frustratingly close. I can save a map with the only layer being the directions I need, and I can view this on my phone, but i can't actually use the directions with turn by turn. searching around, it seems this last bit of functionality just doesnt exist

I can tap a position on the route, tap Directions, and it gives me different directions while also displaying the ones I want

Anyone know what this means? I requested it to be redelivered to my post office last Wednesday but it’s said this ever since. Current wait to speak to someone at RM is 30 mins on an 0345 number so thought I’d try the next best thing, my local fixed gear bicycle forum

Not sure what it means. https://www.saynoto0870.com/companysearch.php may give you a cheaper number to sit on hold to?

Is it stupid to run a supposedly tubed tyre, tubeless?
The tyre in question being a 650b x 42 panaracer Pari Moto

How do you microwave Holland's frozen steak and kidney puddings?
I'm sure I used to do this in my youth but there seem to be no instructions for it out there now.

There might be a better thread for this, how do groups/organisations like Dave Mellor Cycles get to use the Run DMC logo tweaked without copyright/ip infringement, and does this mean anyone can make a "version" of the Run DMC logo for use for their venture?
-

does this mean anyone can make a "version" of the Run DMC logo for use for their venture?
It depends to some extent on the nature of the venture. Nobody is likely to think a bike shop is being run by the same hip hop collective they remember from 40 years ago, so there's no suggestion of passing off

They stucked a label onto it but it's still at your local Royal Mail Delivery Office.

It'd be a CIC type thing.
Imy friend might write to Run DMC to check directly. -

Hypothetically, if someone felt that they needed additional tyre clearance than their mini-v offered them. And let's say they were wondering about considering whether to look at cantilever brake options. Is there one that's easy to set up with only two hands and no more than two allen keys and offers good braking?
Asking for a friend obvs.
-
• #123522
I'd probably favour MTB V-brakes with Travel Agents over any cantilever brake.

I think you can only choose two things from that list, but someone would have to confirm.
-
• #123524
I'll confirm that cantis are shit.
-
• #123525
You can choose up to 2 things from the first 2 options.
I do!
