I've got a Sette 270 sat on a shelf in need of what I assume is a new power board (annoyingly it went about a week after I put a new gearbox in it). Ordered a new one there that should be here in a week. Will likely pop it up here for sale if that sorts it out.
Agree on the above is that few things match it in terms of speed and noise.

Ah ok thanks but that's more than I want to spend really and don't want second hand.

As someone else said, the DF54. By far the best bang for buck electric grinder you'll get for that price for espresso.

Yeah this looks good, thanks and @exteroceptive

Another vote for the DF54, love mine!
Edit: qualifying my statement to make the post more helpful: very easy to use, pretty much zero retention, the anti static thing works really well, it isn’t that noisy (certainly compared to certain grinders), looks nice and doesn’t take up much space.
The cons are grinding time (about 20 or so secs for 15g) and, many would say, inability to upgrade burrs as you can do with the 64. Neither of those are things I’m personally bothered about, so the lower price, lower noise level and smaller footprint made it a better choice than the 64 and actually quite a few if not most other grinders.

What’s the most coffee equipment you’ve taken on holiday?
I’m off to Wales hiking and see nothing extreme in taking my sage precision brewer.

it's even cheaper if you order from them direct in china https://df64coffee.com/products/df54
I picked up a DF64 gen 2, which should be arriving soon.

I mentioned this before but will be moving on a eureka mignon mk 2, does £140 with pick up from Sydenham sound fair? There is a slight crack to the hopper and I no longer have the fork.

My experience of talking about the price of things here is that Singaporeans simply don’t realise that they pay either double, or $500 more for everything vs Europe

Wondering whether to bring one back with me from hols later in the year...

I took a sage batch brew machine, hand grinder, impact driver for the grinder and scales to a music festival last month.

Aeropress and a bag of coffee.

The delivery is really reasonable at £30 i think.

We took a gaggia classic to the hotel when staying in Flanders for TOF/Roubaix week, think we preground the coffee though.

I'm going to be in Shenzhen for a day and was planning to look at some of the coffee tech they have out there but yeah thats not bad (though wonder what import fees will be?)
-
• #27592
Please do you have a video of impact driver + hand grinder

Savages.

I take the Clever Dripper and scales. I did take the grinder too on holiday last year but slightly smaller boot in this car meant I thought that's one less thing to take.

I do usually take the camping stove, gas and camping kettle when I go meet other car nerds though because there's a growing sub-group of coffee nerds within the car nerds.
One of them got married this weekend and there was expectation of boot coffee

This is the way. I find it absolutely bat shit crazy that people take machines with them on holiday when you can make great coffee with something simple like a dripper, aeropress, cafetière etc.

• #27597
Aeropress + scales here also, can't be arsed with anything more
-
• #27598
That's a big difference. Would be keen to know if yous turns up.

Currently on holiday, took my Fellow kettle, Hario Switch, two size filters, four different bags of coffee, scale, bean weighing cup, carafe server thing and two hand grinders (one for me with my light roasted coffee, one for my girlfriend's dark coffee). Zero regrets as the alternative was a bad drip machine because America.

This thread is for coffee weirdo enablers!
It's this one: https://climpsonandsons.com/products/baratza-sette-270-grinder, which is over your budget but secondhand would easily bring you under. As @Tenderloin has pointed out I will preface by saying I probably don't have as developed a palate as everyone else here and so couldn't detect too much of a difference from the Niche when I had it for a spell, but I do value ease of workflow (grind, tap once or twice to level, tamp, go) of the Sette and the flavours I can get from it are very satisfactory. One point to note is that it is very fast (<7seconds for 18g) but it is also very loud (no conversation can be had during those 7 seconds) so if you have people at home who need to sleep through the mornings that may be a factor to consider.
@Dammit people are generally affluent over there, particularly those buying this sort of equipment (both coffee and bikes!), and importers understand their target market.
