  • I agree with you for the most part, but I think the point of that photo is the shoulder line looks whack. Fit around the rest of the torso is good though.

  • Watched a bit of Perfect Days last night. A reverie of midlife style and gracious life. Cycle capes, socks and sandals, thick khakis with over shirts.. Added tash points.

  • I've been meaning to watch that for ages. Love a bit of Wim Wenders.

  • Turns out that’s showing at a local indie cinema next week so I’ve bought a ticket. I might even cycle there. Thanks!

  • It's showing at Curzon in Bloomsbury at the moment as well. I might go tomorrow.

  • Wore a green linen chore coat yesterday 🤷‍♂️

  • Does this mean that there will be a chore shirt amnesty for male creatives (alongside perspex framed spectacles and pseudo Beckett haircuts)?

  • I have three chore jackets and a pair of perspex spex and I am not even creative. I also have a bad haircut because I am tight.

What are my cheap options to update my cultural and social relevance?

  • I will gladly accept any donations of uncool and unwanted Le Laboureur jackets to compliment my plastic glasses. I sold one a few years ago that was slightly too small at the time but have since lost weight and miss it.

  • Don't look at me.. Jumpers for goal posts here.. mint green today out for a spot of lunch.. an overly labneh'd lunch..

  • Where should I be looking for some jeans that have a more relaxed cut as is becoming de rigueur?

Possibly a sort of carrot fit to just above the top of the shoe.

Do Levis do a cut that fits the bill?

  • It sounds like you're describing two different fits honestly. To me a modern relaxed pair of trousers means borderline baggy - and most manufacturer's think the same thing based on the silhouettes being sold under 'relaxed.' Whereas a carrot-ish fit just sounds like what they describe as 'tapered'.

You may want to look up athletic fit, which is just a wider top block with a taper below the knee. Or a straight slim which is just a narrower straight fit that follows the shape of a leg more - rather than a traditional straight fit which is straight from top to bottom.

Don't buy Levi's though. High street mass produced trash jeans, nowadays.

  • Edwin loose tapered might be worth a look.

My reading of your post is that you feel like full on baggies are a step too far for your right now.

  • I asked here before, I need some recommendations for some brands to buy trousers. Everyday wear for work (casual dress) and general dad stuff. Current faves are some old uniqlo chinos but they only seem to do super baggy or high ankle at the moment. I want relaxed tapered? I hate buying trousers. Thanks

  • Might be a stock thing.

    Lindeberg were recommended on here.

I always thing of Gap when I think of chinos.

  • M&S is worth a look. Much improved.

  • My reading of your post is that you feel like full on baggies are a step too far for your right now.

Correct. I like a wider silhouette but tapered towards the ankle.

  • Thanks. Will give Levi’s a swerve.

  • I’ve had some lovely pleated front tapered chinos from M&S.

Also really like Form & Thread stuff but it’s pricier.

  • I like a wider silhouette but tapered towards the ankle.

  • I think check out the Edwin Loose Tapered. I got a light pair which are my attempt at keeping up, while recognising my age.

Tbh I really like them. They're basically my ideal fit from a comfort pov. However, they are less flattering.

  • Dickies? Loads of options and not too pricey.
