TBPH the only reason I didn't buy it is because I've been taking a bit of an unintentional musical sabbatical.
I got so wrapped up in doing an electronic project last year that I kinda forgot who I was deep down musically. The stuff I really wanna play is the poppy, noisy guitar stuff but I'm coming to terms with the fact that I don't think I'll ever get that together for various reasons. ADHD, late onset anxiety, too old, too fat, too bald, CBF, lack of musicians who dig the same shit, total lack of fucking discipline when it comes to writing fucking lyrics, ugh, the list goes on.
I really should just sell the majority of my guitars and be sensible/boring/realistic about whatever the fuck it is I want to do with music, if anything, from now on.
Anyway, please excuse the emo rant! It's all good really, just artistic temperament after a hard day at the coalface. I'm going to see The Prize tomorrow night, they'll probably reinvigorate my mojo! Three Gibsons!! 😂

I’m fed up of my es335 (never liked it) and someone gave me a mystery MIJ hollow body - which I also don’t really want but would be a nice project - crushing pretty hard on a white strat right now - any hive mind ideas about what I might have to play with money wise if I sold the hollowbodies ? Maybe 450 ? - the epi is 1998 made in Korea and has Grover locking tuners and tone rider pups. ? What’s the best bang for buck in used strat ?

Oh man, I feel you. Just trying to enjoy whatever it is I’m doing these days. Even that’s just not much. Tell us about the gig.

Do I need a second guitar for D/C# standard tuning?
Feel like everything I want to learn is in lower tunings and keep seeing people suggesting that going up and down constantly isn’t the best bet as it mucks with the intonation and trem return etc.
I know I asked before and folks seemed to suggest ‘good enough for rock and roll’. -

It does make sense if you want to change tuning regularly. The acoustic I’m failing to refinish will live in C standard

I listen to a lot of stoner rock/metal.
As I’m a beginner I want to keep my strat in E standard so lessons make sense but the songs I want to learn for practice etc are almost all downtuned.
Got my eye on a basic squier strat for cheap down the road from me.. -

You might want to have heavier strings on a guitar that's tuned down too, so another reason for n+1...

You should probably buy a baritone. 😋

IME definitely worth having two guitars in this scenario. I have one I keep in C standard which has Not Even Slinky’s on, no way I could shift it back up to D or E without changing the strings and truss rod settings

Squier Standard 2013ish, it’s £100 and just down the road…. :/
Tempting and a cheap n+1
Rather like the redder than normal burst.Would need a hand to block trem and sort out truss rod/intonation/string replacement etc if I go for it…
What size strings for D standard, occasionally C#?EDIT- I went for it. N+1 has happened

Double strat engaged!
The squier is super light compared to the fender but plays just as nice. Turns out the previous owner had already blocked the trem with pennies so that’s one less task. Tuned down to D with existing strings, bit rattly but doable and sounds cool.

Keep us updated
Boards done. I hate cleaning the solder flux, but at the same time I can't just leave it be...
I was considering using lead-free solder, but then I thought it might be good practise on something smaller first and just went with the usual leaded stuff.

Nice looking fretboard. Frets look also nice and vintage-y

Been gassing badly for a P90 equipped SG - the prices for Epiphone Classics and Specials are so low and the reviews so universally good I feel like I don't have much of a choice!
Currently have my heart set on the worn cherry SG Classic - the Special looks great but not sure how I feel about the Pelham Blue or Sparkly Burgundy (or whatever it's called). Might pop into Wunjo's during my lunch break today or next week to see if they have any, maybe ask for a cheeky strum too...

Yeah it’s really fun. As I changed the strings and tuned it down to D it does need a bit of fettling to get it playing nice again but @Sparky has kindly offered to give me a hand.
Considering changing the white bits for either cream or black at the same time. Thoughts?
The cat approves.

neon pink yellow and green would be my pref. and a holographic sticker.

It is only a squier so doing stupid stuff would be acceptable but I did want to keep it classy. I do have this big-ass holo sticker that hasn’t found a home yet…

I hate modern tort so anything but that. Was thinking white/parchment/mint green guard with cream knobs, switch tip and pup covers.
-
• #15123
I’m ok with the tortie pickguard actually, it is a bit bright but then so is the red burst so it’s ok really. Its just the pup/knobs are very white and cheap looking.
If I changed the pickguard I’d go aged pearl with closed black pup covers to compliment my swinger. -

Seeing your post just made me go and grab my Jag and have a strum on the couch.
God, I love this guitar so much. It's the best playing guitar I've ever owned and makes me play in a way that I don't with other instruments. It's so strange, it changes the way I think, definitely my songwriting guitar. It's great, old photo for reference. Paid buttons for it, MIJ 2012(?).

I’ve just been playing the swinger. Feels tiny now I’ve been on a strat a few weeks.
