To be fair, I've not done 26" with knobblys either! Probably just needs a bit more clearance. Is it worth going a size up for better coverage with bigger clearance?

It's not too challenging but getting the guard centered and stopping any rubbing takes on an added dimension because of the knobbles. Here they are on my Rockhopper - the rear wheel is slightly off-true and it's run singlespeed, so whenever I stand on the pedals I occasionally get a bit of rubbing. Otherwise it's just fine!
I've got a new fork with a lower a-c since this picture, so the front guard occasionally rubs too, but never enough to cause consternation.

Cheers. It's been a long time since I last did it. But both time have been 700c with guards I knew would fit.
I've never done 26" with knobblys.
