I’m pretty sure the white tube is mounting gel. When you’ve made the repairs you rub it round the bead to help seat the tyre, with a hand pump I guess it could be that help you need.

Yep, their website is shit, but you can see it better on Rose Bikes site:

Super Thumbs™ don't need that then. Ooh my setup is now 5g lighter.

Rubber patches come with a vulcanising solution, it slightly dissolves the rubber so when the patch is placed on the patch and the tyre do a Vulcan (mind) meld together.

Had a big hole on my commute yesterday from some glass, looks like it’s about 1cm long. I shoved a bacon strip in and pumped it up by the side of the road and it got me to the office although was still leaking around the strip. I replaced the strip with another at the office as I wasn’t sure if I had done it right first time as I couldn’t get the strip into the end of the fork thingy. Still leaking around the strip, managed to limp home in the evening and got home with probably 10psi left.
The weird thing is, when I got home I noticed I was getting leaks out the valve hole and spoke holes too. I can’t figure out why - I’ve had this setup for 1+ year with no issues. The tyre stayed on the bead so the only things I can think of are that maybe some glass got in and damaged the rim tape, or I messed up the seal around the valve by using my hand pump? Probably doesn’t help that I pissed all my sealant on the pavement.
Are bacon strips usually really sticky or have mine just gone off - first time I’ve used them since I bought them years ago.

I got 3 punctures from 3 separate, tiny thorns which I'm almost certain could have been avoided if I wasn't using tubes. Can someone please bully me in to getting round to setting my bike up tubeless? Thanks.

Thorny shit seems like the ideal use case scenario for tubeless. Last weekend I turned off a main road onto a gravel farm track where the farmer had obviously been out cutting the hedges recently, within one or two hundred metres I probably picked up 15-20 little cuttings in my tyres, all sealed up immediately upon removal.
It can be a fucking shitemare but it can also work brilliantly.

Yeah, I just need to do it don't I? I've just not done it before and I'm sure I'll fuck something up.

Recently converted my own and my sister's bike to tubeless. I was in the same boat as you, never having done it before and and not wanting to f*** things up. In retrospect it was very easy, just make sure you have a compressor or one of those Schwalbe/Topeak/etc. pressure canisters at hand if your tire doesn't want to seat with a normal track pump. I'm only three weeks in and already can't imagine going back to tubes. ;-)
Edit: Most important thing is that you check if the tire seats correctly before putting sealant in, otherwise you might be in for a big mess.

Make sure you have the right kit to hand. Think you can replace Schwalbe Easyfit with soap and water? Tyre levers fit for tubeless rather than normal levers. At least two wraps of rim tape. Inflation device. Sealant that matches the tyre type.

Given you are local, I'd be happy to assist if you do fancy giving it a go. I have all the paraphernalia too.

I went all out on the repair of my rear tyre and got the special blue cement, the plugs and even the inner liner sealer and the stitching wheel. Looks like it has worked, only tiny pin holes in the sidewalls remained which the sealant should take care off.
The problem with this tyre is that there is almost no material on the inside that covers the carcass so if you roughen up the surface you are already down to the fabric and there is nothing for the
vulcanizing fluid to soften.

I don't know if this helps, but I setup some Sawtooths tubeless yesterday on a bit of a whim. Boshed out 85 miles today and they feel like different tyres. More comfortable and seem to roll a lot nicer.
No hassle setting up, no issues on the ride other than the usual loss whilst it all settles.
After one ride I'm a convert. I have had to order a load of bits though for repairs etc to carry just in case.

I set Liz’s saws up tubeless and they so much better than with tubes and I thought they were good before.

I thought we had an understanding that was for your eyes only?

Was there a typo? I read it as "For uk eyes only".

Aero waterproof cx onesie? While everyone else is going tubeless you are tubing yourself?

Not far off the new gabba

Thanks, that's very kind! I think the only thing I'm missing is a compressor. How likely am I to get away with a regular track pump? Tyres are Vittoria Mezcals and going on Prime tubeless ready rims.

I have an Airshot that you are welcome to borrow.

Thanks a lot! I may well take you up on that. Thinking about it, I'm fairly sure we have one in the workshop at work. I might just have a go on my lunch break one day this week.

The rear tyre goes down very slowly overnight, not flat, but loosing a bit of pressure. I've only done one long ride on them, guess this will sort itself out after a few more? No signs of sealant anywhere like weeping etc.

Been cycling tubeless for about 2 weeks after getting the bike second hand (new wheels). Cycling home for the office, an hour in can feel air against my leg. Small slash in tyre. What do I do? Tried the sealant but just came out the hole again and sides, do I need to buy new tyres? Can I just buy standard gator skins and go back to tubes on the same wheels? Any pointers appreciated :)
