I went all out on the repair of my rear tyre and got the special blue cement, the plugs and even the inner liner sealer and the stitching wheel. Looks like it has worked, only tiny pin holes in the sidewalls remained which the sealant should take care off.
The problem with this tyre is that there is almost no material on the inside that covers the carcass so if you roughen up the surface you are already down to the fabric and there is nothing for the
vulcanizing fluid to soften.
