  • Love the yellow storage unit. I have my dad's old one, in red. He used it for his drafting stuff, I use it for a bedside table.

  • looks class. any chance you can share the shopping list please? I can't seem to find the bars and nuts that would fit 🤔

  • Anyone got ideas for cap display/storage other than pegged onto a line on the ceiling. In garage clearance I have found I have 90 which Mrs-ru thinks is too many. They have been festering in shopping bags so feel I can do them more justice - at least the non-generic ones.

  • hello gang, curious storage question here...I live in a lower ground flat in London and I've got this brilliant little under-the-stairs-storage that fits perfectly for two bikes. Only problem is that it's under the outdoor stairs for the upstairs flats so my handlebars have a tendency to get a bit 'furry' after a week or two. Structurally, I can't change anything about it but I'm wondering if there's any storage solution that might protect my bikes from mould or potentially even rust?

  • Something like shipping container damp sticks might drop the humidity a little which might help. Depends how damp it is.

  • 10/10 suggestion

  • What’s the go to for front garden bike storage? Friend needs something to store two e-bikes. Is Asgard still the go to or are there better options?

  • I did a lot of searching the other week and it seems there’s nothing between shitty plastic and Asgard.
I feel like there’s a niche for a decent weatherproof box that you can use your bike locks in.

  • Possible to add a vent or anything hole like to let air circulate and reduce the humidity?

  • Bargain Asgard in Guildford.

    Nothing do with me.
I have been in touch and the seller is really helpful.
Floor and roof are one piece , consequently you'll need a vehicle that can take something 2.3m long .
If I had a way to collect this I'd have snapped it up.

  • Finally got this finished. Been a bit of a labour of love fitting it around work/child care etc.
Dug down 300-450mm to level the ground with previous path
Built a low retaining wall and small raised planter with reclaimed bricks
    Laid sandstone slabs
    Laid new mosaic path
Built the storage using mostly materials I had left over from building my garden studio during lockdown, only needed some new cladding for the front area which I'm hoping will age to match the sides/back.

The bike storage area to the left has my fixed and mtb, child seat, locks and pumps etc. There's probably enough space left for another adult bike or kid's bike and brompton.
Bin store to the right is for 2 wheelies.

  • Impressive stuff - looks excellent

  • Haha fuck me, I barely have time to straighten the bins

  • Cracking job.

  • Great work! Please come and do one for me

  • Quick question, we may be buying a new house with no bike storage options asides from the front garden. Are bike storage sheds outside just likely to get broken into? I'm assuming we'll need to lock the bikes to some sort of internal ground anchor so the shed is more of a weather proofing / looks nice feature. Or am I being too pessimistic?

  • Asgard + concrete base + AX1000 ground anchor

  • I’ve gone for the aesthetic approach in a similar situation. Not enough space for a metal shed, nor enough foliage to make it look nice, so have a green roofed thing with an open side from Bluum. Huge chain and ground anchor, but no attempt to hide things.

Will just have to see how it plays out. 😬

  • Just spotted this - really like it. Our current house had something more basic over the bins supporting a green roof, but the roof could not drain - it was a tub lined with heavy duty polythene sheet. It filled up with cold rainwater and all the plants rotted, especially bulbs. It had to be taken down to put new windows in, so am meaning to get around to putting it back and have been thinking about drainage for the new one. Is this something you've anticipated with this?

  • Ah, paging back I see a couple of recent sheds, jonheslop's mentioning drainage, the other a Bluum one where they mention drainage. So definitely a thing then. Anyway, I actually came here for doubleodavey's rollingcenter solution...

  • If you look at this shed build @NotThamesWater has a living flat roof with a drain in one section

  • Just had a read, that's really useful, thanks. It will be easier than I thought, I was expecting to have some sort of grill on the downhill side but I like this hole/pipe/funnel/gutter approach shared by all these.

  • I have a y-anchor embedded in concrete below mine.

  • Yep - both the bike shed and the garden room have loving roofs. Without drainage, they'd turn into living ponds.

As long as there's a reasonable fall (3° - 5° iirc), they do well. The reservoir cells below the substrate take care of the rest.

The bike shed was a bit half-arse, using just a waterproof sheet. The office used rubber, glue, and all that jazz.
