What's the max tyre clearance on this do you think. Get 50s in there?
-
• #4
No I doubt it. I think a 38 is about the max.

Ok cool, that's a shame. How much do you think postage would be?
-
• #6
about 38mm yes, maybe 40mm slick tyres depending on model and wheels, i have tubeless 35mm terra continental under mudguards, on hunt wheels.
not a shame, these frames have a tight geometry pre-dating the gravel bike era, it can be built pretty agressively. -

Postage would be about £40

Yeah I like that the frame is very pre gravel craze.

Of all the bikes I've owned, the Croix was by far my favourite, and looking for one for a flat bar build. Tempted by this, but being 5"8 on a good day, this is probably one size too big. Though could it be made to work if I'm using flat bar. Hhmmm

I remember when these came out and all the craze was for CX bikes. Iirc, this was the first mass production steel CC bike with disks. It really stood out as being an oddity

Pretty sure I saw this on FB and judging by the lack of replies on here I would assume that this has sold
Selling my well-loved Genesis Croix De Fer 56cm in Reynolds 725 steel.
This was my gravel bike for a few years and got some good use around Epping Forest and further afield. I was planning to outfit it as a commuter bike but kids and a new job scuppered that idea. As a result it has a slightly odd assortment of parts on it.
I bought this via the forum a few years back and now returning it from whence it came. Not splitting - sorry!
Genesis Croix de Fer - I think it's the 2011 model (no eyelets on the fork)
Reynolds 725 Steel frame - usual scratches and rust
Size 56cm
Shimano RX wheels (reasonably new)
Panaracer CometHardPack 700x38C tyres (new)
Original shimano Tiagra group set
New cassette and chain (nothing fancy)
Bottom bracket was replaced recently and has had very little use
Cane Creek Headset has been serviced recently
Shimano mechanical disc brakes - original
San Marco Monza saddle
Selcof seat post and head tube
Slightly flared handlebars (42cm wide I think)
New bar tape
Looking for £325. Pickup from E7 or can ship at cost.
