well life would still go on without a frame lock but it is useful. I only rely on the frame lock if I'm nipping into a shop & can keep my eye on the bike and having bent a spoke or two forgetting about it, I have trained myself into the habit of spinning the pedals while it's still on the stand. Anyway, it's looking increasingly like i'll have to carry a third key :(

My Bullitt isn't selling so I'm thinking about keeping it and making it shorter - for storage purposes - I don't need such a large space either. I see they made a couple that are 25cm shorter....and another company has made a few.... has anyone tried a shortly one?
Cutting 30cm from the loading bay will help with storing the bike and still keeps a low loading bay - albeit smaller
child will go on the back, tent and stuff on the front.... or is that dumb, if an old 26" mtb and front panniers will probably do a similar job and weight distribution?

Shorty cargo will for sure do more then an mtb with a rack. The mini cargos are getting more and more popular (EX: muli, yoonit, omnium, UA, R&M etc) I want to get some sort of shorty after my kid outgrows the UA family.
This absolutely mad one is for sale in germany: https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/bullitt-shorty-pinion-p18/2854877234-217-4823

The Bullitt shorties look like loads (pun intended) of fun - and if anyone can properly mod one it would be you.
The others (I'm pretty sure) are factory made for United Cargobike in Germany, who also offer a version with Pinion Gearbox. -

Thanks. Yeah, I think it would be fun to try.
The pinion conversion looks amazing.Id like to weld/integrate an aluminum rack on the back that also acts like a vertical stand like the Tern Haul bikes.
I see that they are usually cut on a diagonal which makes sense.

What about standing up nose first like an omnium? Add a top deck.

Sounds dangerously top heavy and not nice to balance into storage

Standing on the tail would have a smaller foot print no?

Yeah, not sure, will have to try both.

I don’t have a picture, but I went to a cargo bike race at local bike co-op and they store their bullitt on the wall by hoisting the front wheel up with a hook and block - it was very easy to get up there and down, but you had to be mindful of the rear mudguard

Made a custom front bench for our UA. We wanted something optimized for hauling 1 kid and 1 adult in the box together. Its set low so they can both be in under the tent. Lap belt will probably be replaced with a standard UA harnesses.

My daughter likes to call the UA a boat, so we have gone all in on the pirate ship theme..

May dress it up for Halloween

Maybe it does float? Amphibious cargo would be a great project.

We call out cargo the rocket ship and if they ask I tell them we are faster than anything on the road.

Kids love naming stuff. She calls the bullitt “orange lightning”

Love it. Not ideal for school run maybe.
And you’ve tried lubricating it?
