• Had a big hole on my commute yesterday from some glass, looks like it’s about 1cm long. I shoved a bacon strip in and pumped it up by the side of the road and it got me to the office although was still leaking around the strip. I replaced the strip with another at the office as I wasn’t sure if I had done it right first time as I couldn’t get the strip into the end of the fork thingy. Still leaking around the strip, managed to limp home in the evening and got home with probably 10psi left.

The weird thing is, when I got home I noticed I was getting leaks out the valve hole and spoke holes too. I can’t figure out why - I’ve had this setup for 1+ year with no issues. The tyre stayed on the bead so the only things I can think of are that maybe some glass got in and damaged the rim tape, or I messed up the seal around the valve by using my hand pump? Probably doesn’t help that I pissed all my sealant on the pavement.

Are bacon strips usually really sticky or have mine just gone off - first time I’ve used them since I bought them years ago.
