I saw a post on Bromptons Instagram page a few days ago with a Jack Russell terrier sized dog being happily ferried around in the Brompton shopping basket bag. I think the owner had added a bit of padding around the top and seemed to have a leash attached to a harness but not sure if that was attached to the bike/bag in any way. Possibly depends on the temperament of the dog more than anything!
On the cargo bike thread it seems a mixed bag, some have great success and some less so. All seems to depend if the dog likes the movement of the bike more so than it fitting. Maybe give it a try getting the dog used to the basket, then basket on bike whilst walking around a park and see how it goes?

The standard basket will be fine. Dogs aren’t stupid and seem to enjoy being on the bike - I’ve never had a problem with them wanting to jump out. And you can always tie the lead to the handle.
My 5 kg dog has done hundreds of miles in a foam-reinforced S Bag:

No troubles to report. Start slowly and build the confidence one ride after another :)
Also, put some proper padding between the pup and the basket's metal frame. Be sure to keep it comfortable above all!
Anyone have any experience of taking a smallish dog on a Brompton? They would fit in the regular Brompton basket but I would worry about them jumping out! I found a specific Brompton pet carrier but it’s £300 plus shipping from Korea so looking for more reasonable solutions…
