  • That indoor shot πŸ˜˜πŸ‘Œ

  • Kodak Gold 200 (AF Nikkor 35mm 2.0)

  • Had this several times with vision 2 or 3 being put in old cheap cans sourced from who knows where. Used normal cans with some 3m tape work way better, or do it yourself with a bulk loader and some pentax reloadable cans, change the felt light seal every 10 years and your good. Got a fleet of maybe 15 of them, invaluable.

Recently bought some vision 3 from a local company, never had an issue, noticed the can ends were a bit rusty, guy said 'they are OK', nope. On a customer shoot had 4 of 7 rolls light leaked and fogged to hell, can ends of 3 of them were no good and 1 the felt was no good so left a nice slit light leak through a few layers of frames. FML.

  • Fuji Superia Premium 400 (SMC Pentax 30mm 2.8)

  • Don’t suppose anyone here has an A11 flash unit for an XA2 do they?

  • I picked up a new toy. Excited to see how it turns out. I was always intrigued by the Pentax Auto 110 but was put off by the weird film format. I couldn't resist though when this camera popped up for sale on local classifieds as a complete set, 3 lenses, flash, motorised winder, decent price and two streets away. The film ordered from Lomography arrived today. I am going on a work trip to Budapest next week and will take this little guy with me.

  • Haha, nice! πŸ™‚

What lens is on that thing?

  • That's a 18mm lens but I also have a 24 and 50mm lens. All f2.8. Not sure how that translates as the film is smaller but it covers quite a range. The camera has manual focus and auto exposure and its an actual SLR looking through the lens.

  • ..haha, and a winder as well πŸ˜…

    ..actually just looked it up - apparently they're 35 / 50 / 100mm equivalent πŸ‘

    Great stuff.
Looking forward to seing some pics you shot with it πŸ™‚

  • Cheers!

On another note, I tried some nicer B&W film the other day on a hike. Here are some rocks shot on Canon AV-1, 50mm + HP 4 125

  • I really like my XA2, but want something with a little more customisation.

Any recommendations for something? Ideally small and carryable, not fussed if integrated lens as long as can change aperture.

  • XA? Welcome to borrow mine.

  • Was thinking XA indeed

  • Anyone thinking about the Rollei35AF?

Was on the pre-order list and then it didn't ship to the UK, and the Europe one was Germany/Switzerland only...

  • Rollei 35S or 35SE?

  • I pre-ordered one. Should ship on the 15.10. I have a Rollei 35 classic. It was the first analogue camera I used (besides a disposable as a kid) and I am super excited about it.
I was bumped out when I saw that the black one is currently USA and Asia only. Rollei Germany told me they'll start selling black ones in spring 2025.

  • That's very generous.

The plan is to take it to Aus for a month in Oct/Nov, so would need to be happy for it to travel.

Maybe I'll just take the XA2 as I worry I might lose it!

  • Ahhh - I see Germany has opened orders to UK now - for late December arrival. Might wait for a black one. Please do post when yours arrives and you’ve shot with it though!

  • I reckon your best bet is an EOS500 for <Β£30 and either an EF 50mm f1.8 or the 40mm f2.8 pancake for Β£50-100. Proper SLR functionality and nice lenses and almost the size of a compact.

All the 90s plastic stuff is very unfashionable but IME works great and is dirt cheap.

  • Quite a while ago now my dad gave me his old films cameras, one was a Canon AE1 and the other an Olympus XA. My mum also gave me a modern digital SLR camera so I'm just going to stick to the XA to get a hang of analog stuff for now. Quite pleased to see that there are a number of people here using the XA and are fans of it.

The exposer counter wheel was stuck, so I replaced the batteries as I thought this might have been why and it seemed to fix it temporarily, I installed some new film but it seems to be stuck again and won't go past "S".

I think I read a few pages back about someone replacing the gears for exposure counter?

Oh and also, is the flash on the XA worth having? It kind of takes it beyond being able to fit into a pocket and I just wondered whether it would really be much use.

  • Yes good shout that. Will look into that!

@oheyitsd my XA2 (which is my partner's childhood camera) had it's flash lost agessss ago, never missed it personally. Apparently they take forever to 'warm up' too.

  • @oheyitsd I own an XA + flash (my mom's old camera). I rarely take the flash because it's so nice and compact without it. It does indeed take some time to warm up. I used it once or twice on an evening with friends to get that disposable camera with a flash party look which it does well.

  • Found a couple of colour photos of Richmond on my long departed Leica M2:

  • Finally got around to getting the test roll for this fleamarket buy developed. As always I am using cheap AGFA APX 400 for testing.
Quite happy with the results. I wasn't sure if the camera works properly as it always sounded like it would open but not close the shutter/curtain.
The rangefinder spot is very bright and easy to use and the camera operates in an aperture priority mode which is my favorite way to shoot. Even though it's a bit bulky I'll definitely take it out again.
