I had exactly this with my cx bike as soon as they got heavier. An old 90s mtb solved this.
However, if it fits your bike I do think those shotgun seats look great. The first bike seat was a front mounted wee ride and I much preferred it.

Have an alfine 8 on a mid drive bullit that's done +4k miles, had to service it a couple of time..
Also have an alfine 11 on a front drive bullit and i find it to be perfect, such smooth shifts and such a large range

Pics?

I think people underestimate how well front drive works on a bullit. Also had a nexus 8 with a mid drive that held up fine.

OK. But I warn you. It's not pretty.
Instant wheelie
No wheelie
(without the weeride I can have the seat at a normal height and orientation)

Bought the ex-demo Load4 60 from Kinetics. Arrived a couple of days ago, it's ace! Got the child seats and rack arriving in a couple of weeks.
I've seen people with Ortlieb Outer Pockets attached to the back of the cargo box. Anyone know how they do this?
What other mods/accessories do I need?

Yeah given the cost of ebike stuff these days if (when) I get the job I want I will be treating myself to a front hub kit for one of my bikes for commuting purposes. No it isn't as good performance wise but the cost to benefit ratio is incomparable.

100% I love it, 2 wheel drive ftw!
Also means when you're pedaling hard on a low PAS your effort goes further

UA issue:
Battery lock is stuck, turning the key doesn't move the catch far enough (wear I presume) to remove the battery. I eventually wrestled it off & loosened the lock so it works for now.Easy to find a replacement lock but not keyed alike to the frame lock. Anyone know where I can get both - keyed alike? cheers
PS. lots of keyed alike combos online but none seem to fit the frame

We used to buy direct from UA, I’m guessing a dealer will be able to order
It in for you -

I'm going to Copenhagen on Saturday for work, for a week.
Do Larry vs Harry have a "home" shop or outlet that I can visit while I'm there?

Yes, right here

I've messaged a couple of dealers to ask if they can order a replacement battery lock to fit the key (with the key-code), apparently this is possible - in the US at least
-
• #14365
Ok good luck! Fwiw we would always have to replace both when one failed, battery and wheel lock. Or just use 2 different keys…
-
• #14367
Yeah but I'd rather not have yet another key!

Battery lock is stuck, turning the key doesn't move the catch far enough (wear I presume) to remove the battery.
As an aside is it possible the lock position has moved? There is a little adjustment in mounting position, might be worth checking before replacing everything.

ah! I think these guys make a key'd alike barrel: https://www.ebike24.com/abus-lock-cylinder-bosch-powerpack-blo-bos-dt2?number=8699-001

• #14370
thanks for that
-
• #14371
Nope, the issue is inside the lock barrel. With the key it only moves the catch half the distance as pushing it manually.

Thought you'd found the answer. Unfortunately t I need the older key type, "T82 Asymmetric" apparently & they don't have them in stock :-(
-
• #14373
ah! sad. IME the most robust key is the abus x type

Huge thanks @VoltairePerkins (and all those that gave advice on Alfine). Spent the weekend refurbing the Big Dummy, new cockpit, brake bleed and pads, and VoltairePerkins 11spd wheel. Also knocked up a hitch solution for Surly trailer, and loving it :D First loaded outing later today for repairs at Herne Hill track league ...donated to HHV in appreciation of the wheel (total includes accumulated donations for DD chilli sauce), thank you all!

Can you do without the frame lock? Hopefully it's not your only lock anyway. I removed them from all of the Urban Arrows when I managed a (small) fleet of them because the riders couldn't be trusted not to leave the bikes locked up without something more substantial or break spokes when they forget about the frame lock. Definitely a different kettle of fish when it's your bike but it's a very easy thing to live without.
That makes sense. Ok, maybe time to just respec the current bike.
