Every time I need to do some work that can only be done outside because i need lots of room and it will make a mess. every single fucking time.

Same. It's fucking annoying right?
At least there's still plenty of the summer left.

Thinking of boarding my entire roof space of my garage for additional storage.
Am I right in thinking OSB / t&g chipboard is absolutely fine and that these trusses are more than up to the task?

Can I also get rid of the diagonal bracing if I fix the osb across all the spans?
-
• #46082
It's a new build roof, I imagine it'll be the minimum amount of material required...
I wouldn't take anything out but I reckon (IANAA) it'll be ok to board.
-
• #46083
Might need a bit more work , just on the strength of the boarding, and especially if it's 'where will will will store the overspill from the library!'
-
• #46084
No. Youll need to do work to make it suitable for storage of anything but feathers.

Such as? Bracing? Sistering joists?

Are you on pistonheads?
There is a garage thread and lots of people have done that sort of thing.

The rain clouds somehow got blown elsewhere everytime they were just about to get over head so managed to get some stuff done today but stressed myself the fuck out trying to rush everything so i didn't get caught out and everything would get soaked.
built the bulkhead for my office so i can put downlights over my desk to illuminate the stuff on the desk but not have to fuck about with the angle of the ceiling or running hidden cables.
will run trunking in at the top right corner for the lighting circuit and switch wires and run it inside the box so can either reach up through the downlight holes or just take the front panel off to get to the inside wiring. if i decide on led lighting for the ceiling i can put the transformer in there too.
overall i'm pretty pleased with it. was a good trial run for making the desk which is going to be a similar construction and rough gaps i will cover with some trim if it bothers me. have to remind myself sometimes it's still just a room out in the shed and not in the main house.
I did drop the bottom panel of plywood and gouged some holes in the wall which is fucking annoying so i'll have some touchups to do but once i wall mount the tv it wont be visible probably.

and until the desk is in to restrict where in the room you can stand it's very easy to forget it's there and try and walk towards the window and smack your head on it. 3 times so far.

Such as a structural engineer. Those roof truss arent designed to carry any real load on them in the way you desire, also they're loading onto whatever is spanning the garage door which i doubt was designed to carry much more load than it is.
By all means throw some lighter stuff up there, but to properly board it out for storage of stuff itll need improving.

Pissed it down here for the am. Nice on the door hang , they can be fraught by minor imperfections

Made some workshop stool tops out of 18mm ply, need to put something on to protect them.
Thinking about this, but any other/better suggestions?

There's an inbuilt washing machine on ebay I like the look of. In our kitchen we have these sort of stainless kitchen 'units'
The dimensions of the washing machine look like it's fit under one of our units. It's not as tall as our current washing machine. Is it necessary to fit a fitted washing machine in a fitted unit, or could you just put it on the floor under a unit like the above?

Check the depth. Integrated WMs are not as deep as freestanding

I was hoping that spray would be a colour as it'll wear off really nicely.
I'm on the side of anything would do but I used osmo on the last bit of rough old ply, bit of a pain for drying time and recoating, 3 is adequate (even with the fast dry stuff) and is available in small quantities 125ml (can be tinted but your not interested in that) - id say a long way down the line do use the same product to re-do it -

yeah, it would fit all ways around. But I wondered if they need fixing to the surrounding unit when they're integrated? Or if integrated ones are the same as free standing, just slightly smaller and uglier?

They come with levelling feet so can be put anywhere.

You are right. Colour would look great as it wears. Will have a think

I’ve got stuff I order online that strips stuff no bother.
Most cases I've seen involve smashing with a hammer and angle grinding flush to the floor.
