He was not, it was a day of questionable weather and we did go up quite late, he was probably there earlier in the day.

Spent some time in Northumberland recently, took the Fairlight with me and managed to get a bit of riding done either side of some storms, main highlight was a 218km day out that took me into the Borders.

Quiet roads even in the middle of school holidays on the bit between Bamburgh and Amble which is very touristy. Wind was relentless. Fairlight ticked over 10,000kms.

I spent a week riding around there in 2022. Probably one of my favourite places in the UK.

Did you find Scott’s deli in Alnmouth? Bangin coffee and cheese and paprika scones.

I was staying in Alnmouth! Such a beautiful place and Scott's is wicked, pretty much a daily visit.

Incidentally, on my day out into the Borders I made it to Kelso and had lunch at a bistro called Scott's of Kelso, excellent lunch but no association with the one in Alnmouth though.

I feel like I've only scratched the surface of the lanes up there, but being able to just get into it straight away with no junk miles to 'get to the lanes' as is de rigueur in London was so, so nice. Just really great riding both near the coastline and further inland, next time I'll try to explore around Kielder Forest.

Good to see a Pastel de nata in the wild. The thinking persons treat.

Looks ace! The paint is pretty neat - what's the plan for the build?

Transfer wheels and full Ultegra 8000 groupset from the Klein but I'm easing up the gearing so it's a bit more suitable for long climbs. So switching out to 50/34 rings with an 11-30 cassette, as large as I can go with the short cage RD. In-line Zipp seatpost from the Fairlight, and new to me Zipp SL carbon bars and stem. Should fit 28mm tyres fine but there's already a set of nice 25mm tyres on the wheels I'll be porting over so I'll just wait that out. Black cables, white bar tape.
