Paris Paralympics 2024

Just tuning in to the opening ceremony speeches. Can’t see a Paralympics thread. 11 days of games. Bring on the superhumans!

Caught a bit of the opening ceremony, looked much more sane than the Olympics one.

Looking forward to seeing Ricardo Ten Argiles on the track.

What's the coverage on C4 like? Lots of ads? I struggle with C4 these days but would like to support the paralympions.

channel 4 youtube has plenty of action.

Only watched a bit of swimming, but nice to see the full crowd there too.

Just watched Hannah Cockcroft and our shot putter Sabrina Fortune destroy everyone. However, Hunter Woodhall has best hair in the whole competition.

Oh dear, Jonnie Peacock is not confident.

I find the track cycling a bit dull as there is no bunch racing in paracycling. However, I am looking forward to seeing the road racing.

I was a volunteer at last year’s worlds in Glasgow. I was assigned to the road paracycling (actually held in Dumfries) and was amazed, and humbled to see some of the most disabled cyclists get on their bikes (and trikes and handcycles) and race, some going so slowly that I’m sure many of us non-disabled cyclists could easily beat them but seeing the effort and determination they put in was just wonderful.

I’m fully in love with Matt Bush. I have no idea how tall he is but when he won his medal it was cutting to some fairly hench-looking able bodied folks who were his trainers and coaches and he scooped them up with one arm like they were children.

133 miles from my work (Teddington). Only gone as far out as HDIJ in that direction but I know the M40 is very up and down. No idea what the non-M roads are like on the route but I’m guessing this might be for the braver riders.
