  • Evening all.

I'm in the market for a new board / party game for xmas.
Been battering Codenames for the past few years but want to try something new.
    Any recommendations?
How about recommendations for games aimed at kids 5+ (my daughter loves Dobble. Anything else we should be checking out?)

    Anyone played these?

  • Hey Yasi, just for search purposes you might want to correct the two muddled titles:

    Chronicles of Crime
    Great Western Trail (not Railway)

  • Hahah okay i will.

Do you want Great Western Trail?

    It’s German

  • Ah, no thanks, I'm not buying any new games at the moment. I don't have enough opportunities to play anything, unfortunately.

  • I'm after a new boardgame to play with my family at Christmas (assuming that's a possibility...) But have no idea where to start looking. For 6 adult players, ideally something that doesn't take all night to play and would be fun to play a few games of in a row. I got my brother Secret Hitler last year which was a hit. Maybe something similar in the sense of having simple rules but complex tactics?

  • You could also ask here:

I think the current go-to game for your needs is Ticket to Ride (the Europe variant seems to be the most popular), although that's only for 2-5 players. It does all the other things you mention, though.

  • I just lost a fairly intense bidding war over agri hazard

    £42!!!

  • I have a vintage escape from colditz game that I inherited if anyone wants it. Certain to bring joy to any family occasion

  • About to start Flamme Rouge.

  • I’m done with Cantaloop now. I’ve not played a one player game like that before and it was really fun.

Would anyone like to buy it off me as I’ll not re-play it.
It’s like new and I photocopied the only sheet you write on so no pencil marks etc.

    There’s a review here

How’s £15 posted in the uk. SOLD

  • I know this thread tends to older kids/more adult focused, but has anyone used the OJO STREAM games with kids?

A 4yo nephew is very bright and into puzzles so I reckon would like the Robot Workshop one.

It's partly prompted by seeing a Sphero Bolt and thinking that would be cool. But it's way out of budget for nephew presents.

    Cheers

  • Apologies if repost. Less a recommendation(!) than an interesting read.

  • I think that's not the only one, but I can't remember what the other one I think I once read about (a long time ago) was. Maybe it was the same one.

I suspect the reason why the SS 'objected' to it was because it was pivoted on the old Nazi 'policy' of deportation. Whether the game came out in 1936 or 1938, it was probably already 'out of date' in Himmler and Heydrich's eyes.

It always annoys me when people use Nazi terms without ''s, e.g. their nonsensical idea of 'Aryan'. I've increasingly noticed it in German press articles. People really need to be reminded.

  • Does anyone have Agri hazard and want to sell it to me?

  • Just ordered this fingers crossed it goes well after Christmas dinner

  • Christmas is en route and I need a new family board game. All adults some cleverer than others. Last years John Deere monopoly didn’t go down as well as expected.

  • Any recommendations for any two player board games, nothing majorly taxing just a bit of light fun?

  • Clearing out my father in laws loft

    That’s Christmas sorted

  • Ha! I used to love playing this when I was younger.
My dad hated it but played anyway

  • After a board game for my BiL who's into board games and already has a solid portfolio.

    • 4 ish players
    • Strategy
    • Not obvious, or exceptionally newly released

    Ideas?
