  • That looks like if a care service company wants to use surveillance in their premises. No. 6 seems to account for concerned family placing cameras and it seems it can happen but may be questioned.

  • I think the quick answer is Nest Cam

  • These magazines that appear on tv with a great introduction price of £3.99 and then each following issue costs £9.99 for models etc, any that it will take 90 issues to complete your collection, do they ever finish the magazine run so people can complete their collection?

Seen the warhammer 40k magazine advert on tv at the moment, and always presumed these magazines get canned and just wondering if anyone had real life experience of these magazines (no I won’t be buying the warhammer 40k magazine).

  • I did a bunch when I was 5 or so, collecting the pieces of a glow in the dark tarantula, and then a scorpion. Def completed both of those

  • They're called partworks and they're almost all sold by one company:
    https://hachettepartworks.com/

The tactic is to make people take out a hard-to-cancel subscription so generally they do run to the end, because more issues, more money.

The previous Warhammer series was completed:

  • The car ones (e.g. 1/8 scale metal James Bond Aston Martin etc) do run until the end. It’s astronomically expensive to complete, usually works out well over £1000.

No idea how they gauge how many people are going to complete the project. Presumably they must get a certain number of people who start (even with good intentions) but don’t follow through to the end.

  • I'd have thought De Agostini were bigger in the UK.

They nearly always run to the end but you do see a significant drop off in units sold between the start and end.

  • The Warhammer one will finish. They ran one a year or 2 ago to. The main gotcha is that it's actually a lot of money in the end.

  • Can I just check if I bought something online and want to return it, I don't have to give a reason and the shop have to accept the return and give a refund? It's not been used and in the exact same condition as when delivered and it was only yesterday.

I bought some wood vanish bottles from a Dulux centre that are 2 years old, they are now refusing to take them back, saying if it has problem, the manufacturer will give a lifetime guarantee. They kept saying they are not 2 years old, the date on the bottles are the production date, so they are 2 years old then, no? The manufacturuer says if they have been stored "correctly", they should be fine, otherwise, they vanish will peel off as it dry. I don't want to put the vanish on the wood to then realise it's gone off then have to deal with that. Dulux's reason for refusal is because it's a direct supplier order so if I return it that the shop will be stuck with the items. How is that my problem? I said, how could a direct supplier order be something that is 2 years old and moment before that, they literally said they picked them from the shop floor. Then they kept saying if I return the bottles they can't sell them.

I am done arguing with them, it sounded to me they are just giving excuses knowing they wo't be abl to sell those bottles that are 2 years old, also it's the poor customer service that pisses me off so I want my money back and go somewhere instead.

So if I brought they back to the store that delivered them and tell them this: https://www.gov.uk/accepting-returns-and-giving-refunds can they still refuse? If they do, what's next?

  • If you paid by credit card, claim money back through them

  • Did you read the 'distance selling' bit? The key bit is whether it's within 14 days. Edit: and >= £42

  • If you bought and paid for something online then, yes, it should be ok to return for 14 days

    https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/regulation/consumer-contracts-regulations-ajWHC8m21cAk

Don't argue the toss on the 2 year thing, it's not relevant. You've just changed your mind.

  • Ordered on 22 Aug and delivered yesterday and just under £100.

  • It’s 14 days to inform them and then 14 days from that date to return, right? So if I ordered on 22 Aug, I have till 4 Sept to inform them then till 17 Sept to return. Is that right? Think I’ll email them to state I will be returning to the store by (date), so it’s in writing. It got to a point yesterday they didn’t answer my call anymore.

  • It’s 14 days from when you received the order (just read the Which link).
Take them back to store and point to the consumer contracts bit. If they decline, contact your bank and they should refund.

  • Alright, I am away next week, so soonest I could go is 7 Sept, still plenty of time. Thanks a lot.

  • No, Dulux do not give a lifetime guarantee. The most you get is the cost of paint in vouchers to spend at a Dulux center/Dulux paint and only if you have a receipt.

Can tell you from recent experience.

  • Do you have to pay for postage, if the item bought looks beige in the advert and white items arrived.

  • If the text description of the item says "white", you have to pay to send it back. If the picture is the only description, then the goods are not as described and the seller has to collect the item or refund your reasonable costs of returning the item.

  • It's not a Dulux product, it's Polyvine. What pissed me off the most was the Dulux people gave Polyvine my number and basically told me to deal with them. Polyvine is looking into swapping the bottles for me, but last night, I thought to myself, why do I have to deal with any of these shit? When Polyvine can be bought from Amazong and B&Q? I only bought form Dulux because there was a site wide sale. Never again.

  • Cheers! Sacked the idea off altogether and have packed a bit lighter so we can take it all on the bike

  • Safe journey.

  • I found an AirPod pro case on the floor in burgess park this morning. No AirPods inside. It seems to be on the ‘find my’ network, do I just wait and see if the owner turns up at my house or is there a way to actively return it to them?

I was hoping to learn their name by seeing if it would show up in the Bluetooth section of my phone, but because it doesn’t have the AirPods in it doesn’t even show up.

    Any thoughts?

  • Is it generally safe to mount a pizza rack to a bike with a quick release front wheel?
