Not Very Burley

I'll volunteer to passenger test all kid trailers for you lot :)
Tile bagging while broken and breaking trailers sounds fun.

Sadly his monkey doesn't add much counter balance.

"We're gonna need a bigger monkey!"

Does anyone know if the Yepp maxi rack mount seat fits on a Blackburn outpost rear rack? #nicherequests

The one that clamps from the side? I think the biggest thing is if the rails are big enough

The older 2 seater burley has a good configuration of belts that allows a single child to sit in the middle and still be belted, progress eh? That flex connector is pretty strong, but I suspect if the bike gets rested on the ground a lot that can twist the rubber a little too much. You can get a replacement easily enough and it's easy to replace

I can't imagine it was fun for anyone when it rolled. Bring extra kid detritus in the boot for ballast? :)

Ha progress indeed. Annoying. Im going to see if there is a way to do so.
Yeah it seems to have gone a bit brittle. I guess i expected it to last longer than 2 years but maybe its consubale. A good lesson to always connect the saftey cord.

According to my daughter „all the bikes need kids seats“ so we swapped the urban arrow for the touring bike today

Last winter I mostly drove the car to nursery drop off then on to work (2 miles then about 4) because it just rained and rained and rained. Today I drove, and it was awful and slow and I resolved to take the bike every day. Child is 2. We go early in the morning so time spent dressing and undressing and faffing is unwelcome. What do I need to do/buy to make us waterproof and weatherproof all winter? I am riding a flat bar hybrid, currently without mudguards but only road ones will fit and they are £££. She is in a Thule seat and obviously we have basic waterproofs.
Are the poncho things you are covering the whole kid any good? Etc -

This is why I love the trailer. I put him in in t-shirt and trousers and just cover him over. It's dry and warm. But a trailer is easy where I live.
The above looks good.

I’ve got a multicharger but I’m looking for something acoustic to replace it as found my fitness plummeted when I replaced the acoustic bike with electric for doing nursery run.
A UTE would be ideal but there don’t seem to by many about, the big dummy is expensive, and the yuba is shit/heavy. Cant believe just a few years ago a full UTE build was less than £650 new. Fucking brexit.
The perfect find would be a mid or longtail frame to take 2 kids out back, that could perhaps take a suspension fork, 27.5 x 2-2.2 tyres…. Clandestine do some anmazing examples but if going custom I have other options - I ideally want something ASAP.
Any ideas for something OTP?
Searching out a steel mtb frame and stick a longer back end on is a potential option if I can’t find an easier way.
Looking for a large if anyone has something appropriate gathering dust.

could you not ride in tour mode 😂

+1 on a trailer. Second hand Burley or something similar, lock it at nursery then cycle.

It’s a miserable bike to ride on anything but turbo. So heavy, so dull. It’s like pedalling a barge. I need a little va va voom. Been riding a modified cotic BFE with Penny on the back and it’s been great, despite being hard work.
Got the double nursery run from January onwards it’s gonna be an ordeal.

Ah now see comment about va va voom.
Does it need to be a cargo with two in the back, rather than a regular bike with one up front (eg. shotgun) and one on the back? Planning on doing this with my Bridge Club if we have a second

Yeah I would rather just have both behind me and a centre stand. Leaning bike up to get one on and off is fine but with 2 need that centre stand. I’m not sold on the KRS really, given my height, the size of the bike and the size of my daughter I just can’t see it being a good daily solution.

I sympathise with this, I once accidentally clicked the '-' and it went down to sport, was awful

A UTE would be ideal
They do come up semi-regularly on FBM and ebay. Get your searches and notifications set up.

Found this https://granola-spoke.com/2020/05/09/diy-bike-kid-seat-rain-cover/
Could work.
Do you have a rear rack? You can mod cheap mudguards to attach underneath those (which I did), or use those mtb ones. They all help, but unfortunately only true full length mudguards truly do the job.
What do you spend on petrol? Probably not much for a short run, but it'll still be £s per week, so if it means you take the car less then even expensive mudguards won't be that expensive net.

There are a few Xtracycle's on eBay at the moment.
Ive rolled my Burley trailer twice now. I got the two kid one. With only one kid in it obviously the weight is all to one side and it doesn't take much lifting of the other wheel for it to roll. It really needs some central seatbelt option for when solo. But today the flex connector also sheared off compelty. Bit of an experiance for all.
