It's trip time! Off with a friend to get the ferry down to Bilbao and then ride from there to a small town called Massat which is about 2/3rds of the way across the French Pyrenees.
The route we've come up with is mostly road, with a few off-road optional extras, we'll be wild camping most of the way. Feeling no small amount of trepidation for the amount of climbing that we'll have to do over the seven days we're hoping it'll take, with the route taking us over the Peyresourde, Tourmalet, and Aubisque amoung other cols. It should be about 700km and 17,500m of elevation, which is similar to the Torino-Nice we did six years ago (!) now.
The bike of choice is the trusty Tricross. I was going to make a small rack for the front but unfortunately managed to round out one of the bosses on the fork leg, so bar harness it is. Hoping I'm not going to regret having a 34/32 lowest gear..
