Thanks. Where? It worked for a year.

On mine... Settings -> apps -> app management (find the app you want to fix) -> battery usage -> tick allow background activity

Strava seem very excited by their new dark mode. I assumed it was an incognito setting but itβs just a colour palette.

Strava... sending me an email to tell me that I've lost the local legend for a segment I've never ridden to a person who has never ridden it either.
-
• #5432
Win it back by not riding it then.
-

That's a new one. I thought telling me I'd lost it on something I rode once was a bit rich but being local legend on something you've never ridden.. that's next level. Maybe Strava thinks you're legend enough to be local legend on stuff NEAR where you've ridden such is your aura of legend.
My shadow must have local legend on quite a lot then... #hippyisfat

I just got an email telling me that because I've run 800km in my shoes I should buy a new pair. What a load of old consumerist tosh

You can change the settings to stop you getting warnings about shoe life.
~800km is about what I get out of a pair of road running shoes. I can definitely feel the cushioning has all but gone by then and usually the soles are almost completely worn down and falling apart. Then again, I'm heavy and so I probably smash the fuck out of shoes a lot quicker than a wafer thin whippet.
My old run commute was ~11km and so a Β£70 pair of shoes (in a sale) would last about 70 commutes meaning they were Β£1 a commute. A bargain compared to the public transport options but more expensive than cycling it.
Sure there are shoes out there that would last longer but I've found my favourite shoes (Saucony Jazz - not the fashion ones) and I'll stick to them.
My trail running shoes (Saucony Peregrine) will last thousands of kms but they're harsh for prolonged runs on hard surfaces.

Completely get that, but I think there are plenty who will take the email at face value and add to the trainer-landfill issue without thinking.
For context these shoes are 6-month old Asics Evoride Speeds and still have plenty of bounce to them, minimal wear around the heel, and still in good nick generally

Ah, so they shit the bed last night but then seem to have randomly started blocking my VPN. Dicks.

Is there a way to stop Strava sending a "Good job πππππππ" type notification every time I submit an activity?
-
• #5442
There must be because I don't get shit from Strava for the most part.
-
• #5443
Turn off notifications from Strava. Equally is it that much of a bother that when you finish an activity it does that. Or are you one of those people who logs the walk to have a shit at work :)

If it gets me a tile, the log is getting logged.

Is that the same as this? When I tap it, it asks me to start subscription.

Anyone got a premium discount code? My subscription expired a few weeks ago and I was hoping they'd send me a discount to entice me back in, but nothing yet...
Android phone now not recording after going into screensave. And shutting app down when I reopen. Any ideas very very much appreciated
