That's not the original fork for that bike is it?
-
• #48728
Nope, he swapped it out so he could run a disc front and rim brake rear.

Harsh!

Agree. The wheelset / tyre combo makes it look a bit odd but nearly into functional territory as is.

Why is the seat tube bent?

I swear the bend in kjlem's pic is bigger than the one on the stock Ogre. And there's a cable stop facing the tyre. Mysterious.

The seat angle looks slacker there too, which exaggerates it. Just another case of camera lens distortion, I think :-)
Mine has the cable stop too

I didn't see that. What's it for?
-
• #48738
It's a somewhat bizarrely placed front mech hanger cable stop, which doesn't do much for the tyre clearance

That's poor design.

It was 2012, so perhaps Surly knew everyone was about to start ditching their front derailleurs

So as you go through thick mud the cable is pulled and you go into a higher gear? Awesome

The rusty chain is a nice touch, gives it that proper delivery bike vibe

This is why I sometimes despair of LFGSS. You lot have no idea of how long it takes to apply link-by-link faux rust to a primary propulsion unit whilst retaining the diamond drive internals. A team of dedicated ex-barristas, estate agents and management consultants have given up their entire careers to fulfil this dream. At least show some respect for their tears of anguish. I shall certainly be buying this underpriced masterpiece.

Ride it like you louched it.

"custom" but it's 55cm and you're not allowed to change anything
-
• #48750
It is the local custom in Oregon to only build them in 55cm. Anything else would reduce the profit margin and cause the design team (Brent, who is a management accountant by day) to have a nervous breakdown.
A proper dogs dinner
