Have an alfine 8 on a mid drive bullit that's done +4k miles, had to service it a couple of time..
Also have an alfine 11 on a front drive bullit and i find it to be perfect, such smooth shifts and such a large range

I think people underestimate how well front drive works on a bullit. Also had a nexus 8 with a mid drive that held up fine.

Yeah given the cost of ebike stuff these days if (when) I get the job I want I will be treating myself to a front hub kit for one of my bikes for commuting purposes. No it isn't as good performance wise but the cost to benefit ratio is incomparable.

Any thoughts on Alfine hubs? I’ve been umming-and-erring over which hub to get - it sounds like replacing an old, functioning-but-tired 8spd Nexus with a new Nexus doesn’t make sense.
