Just finished a respray on a Roberts touring frame, pretty pleased with it for my first paintjob but it's really made me want to do another one and learn from my mistakes!

It’s flat here but 50x15 is a bit big so I have ordered an 18.

@Dammit 50x18 should still be able to keep up with traffic. I've run 49x18 without any problems in the past

.... So it's gonna be a few weeks until the parts from Cane Creek come in to mount the Nature boy fork. In the meantime, I took the liberty of swapping over my cyclocross tires and drop the gearing to 48/22 for some trails. In order to preserve the geometry with the new fork being longer, I decided on a 650bx1.75 reverse mullet setup.

I'd have run a larger sprocket but the only ones I can buy locally are stamped steel of dubious roundness, and Track Supermarket had either 18T or 21t when I wanted a 19. I'm sure it will be fine - here in the 11th flattest country in the world.

Put some bar end plugs in there if you're gonna ride trails

Anybody know any alternatives to standard seatpost binder bolts? I have stripped couple of cheap ones as wanted to replace a qr one on beater atb I have. Currently held with some bolts and washers

There are lots of chickens that run wild here, but given the wild aspect tricky to dibs.

More of a shakedown setup. Will likely run flat bars/risers with the steel fork and reserve drops for the road commute. Was pleased to hear the forks will be easily interchangeable by retaining the stock lower cup and replacing the bearing/adding an adaptive crown race to the all-city fork... Got a Wtb sti23/formula 650b wheel on the way as well as a maxxis rambler 1.75 for some cushion when I'm pushin

Please get bar end plugs regardless! They're cheap (or free) and might stop you taking a core sample of yourself if the worst comes to the worst. The amount of different bar tape you like to experiment with suggests you probably have at least a couple knocking around!

You have a valid point and yes, I've got a few bar plugs in the spare parts bin for sure....

Buggered if I can get the sprocket off- three local bike shops have said to cut it off!

Did they try clamping the sprocket in a vice and turning the wheel?

I reverse-rotafixed it off in the end, no vice here sadly.

just got a bike with etap, tried to update the firmware and now the mech seems bricked, yay!

If I ever find another solution I will change but it already works really well :)
