French Alps. Late summer is off season and chalet are cheap. If you have a mate with a car and can split costs and carry the bikes, even better.
Maurienne valley staying in Saint-Julien-Mont-Denis.
Has a fair amount going on ride wise and these are just the popular climbs, many more quiet ones about.
Col du Télégraphe
Col du Galibier
Lacets de Montvernier
Col du Glandon
Col du Madeleine
Col du Mollard
Col de la Croix de Fer
Tarentaise Valley, staying in Aime.
Col du Madeleine (from the other side)
Cormet de Roselend
La Sassiere
Col de l'Iseran
Col de la Loze
Col du Petit Saint-Bernard (drop into Italy for lunch)
There is a 25km climb at the back of the accomodation, don't even know the name, climbs everywhere and the best part, most of these are connected by a stunning segragated cycle lane.

We were also daft enough to ride both valleys in a single day out. Wizard works frame bag came in really handy, along with some nice Albion bits!
Have eaten a LOT of bocadillos de guaya.
