  • caught up on this as I haven't checked in a while. Bike is looking absolutely banging with those mods and the attention to detail. bravo!

  • Thanks Ricky.

Have been thinking about fitting endurance-style axle pull cups and found everything online was expensive and not compatible. After some head scratching and a few cups of tea I made a thing. An expanding steerer plug and upper headset cover, with channel for a circlip, seems to do the job. Obviously bit pointless on a road bike but should offer some protection in a slide plus makes removing the axle a lot easier. Also I am a tart.

  • Wheel swap happening

  • Nice. They look a lot more modern.

I wonder what a white rear would look like?

  • Should save around 4kg too. They'll both be getting painted/coated white once I work out how to make them fit.

  • I know very little about bikes but I love what you've done with yours. Just keeps getting better

  • Appreciate that, turd polishing is quite satisfying it turns out. I thought they might be, but lightweight wheels are a game changer. Rolling off the driveway things feel more agile, amazing how much reducing rotational mass influences handling.

Acceleration, braking and turn-in is significantly quicker. The bike feels like a much newer machine, which turns out you treat it like one leaning on the sidewall and getting up to speed a little brisker. All below 70mph though officer.

  • Muy bien.

Every time I see this it makes me lust for a 750.

  • No post about the front screen support? Looks like you managed the clean reverse mount. Looks much better

  • Thanks for the reminder. I had better photos but dropped my phone in a river... I attempted to tig weld something at work which didn't go well, then a local welder had a go. His welding was great, but after running the new mount for a few weeks it needs a redesign. With the weight of the mirrors it's quite flappy in strong winds. If I have the patience will make a mk2 version over the winter. I agree though, much prefer the look. He's the best photo I have with it in situ.

  • Ohhh sir yessssssir! Utterly exceptional this. Could it be you’re running the finest 750 in the country?

  • High praise indeed! Need to get this thing on track next year.

  • Yeah I’m thinking commit more days to track again or jump into motogymkhana with the Honda. The latter being way cheaper.

    What are the wheels btw?

  • Forged aluminium OZ wheels from an Aprilia RSV. They did 3 versions from memory and these are the lightest mk3 "evo" ones.

  • Thought I’d recognised that spoke pattern. Any mods to fit them?

  • The disc to sprocket spacing is the same as the SRAD so a popular upgrade with racers. But yeah, the RSV axle is smaller so had to get some bushes and spacers made up.

  • Wheels look awesome. What colour are they getting powdercoated? I have to admit, they look quite trick in the Ano Blue. Every time I see an update for this on here or instagram it immediately has me looking on marketplace at cheap bikes.

  • Thanks for the kind words. I knew this would happen, the blue is growing on me too. I did plan on making them white eventually but after seeing how much nicer the finish is compared to my old powdercoated wheels they will get 2K paint or cerakote. Shame you can't do white anodise.

  • The SRAD feeling very sorry for itself at a local engineering workshop to sort some swingarm play. Was planning to pick it up but they need a little longer to diagnose, real shame as was looking forward to riding home in storm Darragh.
