  • I’ve got a mig welder but no gas. I could get some gas though. Just need a small canister.

It’s been years since I welded anything

  • Today's spot on hols. So. So nice.

  • No gas will make a weak weld, Halfords do the mini gas bottles.

Sorry if I'm coming across as a know it all, I'm just going through things ive done in the past on on siezed steel bolts in Ali heads

  • Sorry I thought I was, d’ho! :D

  • Not an issue for me but might be an issue in reply / mentioning in a thread

  • Not at all, very helpful.

  • Have you spoken to anyone like import monster?

If you're not in a rush, they will buy your bits from Japan and stock it all into one container to save shipping costs

  • Which auction sites are you using? I'd be extremely keen to find some BBS LM's that would fit my 996 - they're crazy money in the UK.

  • Import Monster have a set but very pricey, almost three times the price of the ones I'm looking at. Just need to make sure I've got comp insurance in case I receive a box full of rocks. They're sitting in my cart. 🤤

  • After a hectic couple of weeks on hols and busy with the kids it was nice to have some time to give the car a wash and get out for a spin.

  • Yeah, I haven’t had a chance to take mine out much since getting it a couple of weeks ago either - need to make an excuse

  • Bodykit is only hanging on but this is finally taking shape

  • maybe import monster is a bad example, but i used this guy Jessestreeter and it was pretty reasonable

  • yahoo auctions but i normally browse via Buyee

  • Could carbon fibre car bodies ever become cheap? There are some Americans making carbon fibre copies of vintage muscle cars, but they seem to cost $200,000 or more. https://www.motortrend.com/features/finale-speed-chris-jacobs-1969-chevy-camaro-1970-dodge-charger-carbon-fiber/ Is manual labour a big part of the cost? Automated laying of carbon fibre is a thing. So are big 3D scanners. Let's have cheap CF car bodies. Press a couple of buttons. Job done.

  • finally taking shape

    So exciting! A new Saab!

  • Didn't get a golf R

  • Try JDM Distro. Email the specs you need and they'll find you a set and take care of all of the import / export bits...

  • JDMdistro is expensive, Streeter is way cheaper and a really good guy. I've used Streeter once but my mates have used him loads of times.
However, Japan isn't the place to go for reasonably priced BBS if you live in Europe.
German eBay marketplace is much better and I have an excellent German contact who can handle the logistics.

  • Let's have cheap CF car bodies.

recycling / re-use options are really limited, unlike metal panel. CF is useful material but it's really gross from a sustainability standpoint.

  • Thanks for the tip, just sent him an email. The wheels are on Mercari but I'm looking on the Doorzo app, such confusion. This sounds safer and easier. Wheels!!

  • What’s a good (big) car jump start battery pack to buy?

I got this https://amzn.eu/d/ci4dhbX but the leads were very flimsy, so I returned it

  • Latest on the list of "hire cars that I wouldn't buy", the Hyundai Bayon. Smaller than you think and sloooooow. To the point of having a few near misses in Donegal where I swore I had plenty of time to pull out at a junction/roundabout only for it to take a million years and the approaching car getting mightily pissed off. 100% driver error, but it took a lot of getting used to.

  • JDMdistro is expensive
