Why won't this shift outer go into the STI ferrule?
The outer end is circular and neat.Am I okay to not use the ferrule, just a standard ferrule going into the shifter?

The STI ferrule should just slot neatly onto the end of the shift cable without anything in between.
At least from the shimano installation guide -

A standard gear ferrule will be fine directly into the shifter

the canyons front brake has stopped working again and I won't be repairing it until this is finished
from sitting on it, a 110mm stem might be needed but it might feel completely different when actually built

What about brass (barrel adjusters, bolts, spacers etc.)? Black and gold is always excellent.
also added sick knowing that you’ll build this and actually ride it a lot
