1990 Alpinestars Alpine Xross DX (OG gravel)

  • I bought this last week but its a touch too small and I don't want to start swapping parts. Description from original sale on Retrobike. I paid £350 collected. I'll take a hit at £300 plus postage. Got cheap eBay listing so will be on there tomorrow evening.

bought this last summer but since then it's sat unused at work. I've decided to try and stick to my plans to thin the herd this year so will try and move it on. Early gravel bike blah blah blah, but these are pretty rare, especially in this condition I would think. The actual top tube length is 21.25", c-c, giving an effective tt of about 21.5". The seat tube is 16", again measured c-c. It really doesn't want for much; the headset is a little discoloured and it's missing the bottle cage bolts but it really is in excellent condition for its age. The bar tape is more modern and I would change this if I was keeping it. The frame does have the odd scuff and chip to the paintwork but all very minimal. It could use a good polish and a once over to set up the brakes properly and adjust the gears but it's otherwise ready to ride. I'm guessing the rear brake was swapped for the low pro XT for improved heel clearance. The stem differs from the catalogue image but is an improvement, in my opinion.

  • I rode this to work and back once sulking the whole way when I realised it was too small.

If I was keeping the bike I'd say it needs a wheel true, BB adjustment (small play but smooth), headset tightening and new cables throughout (think original as while they work, everything is a bit stiff).

  • That is super cool

  • Woosh! How tall are you?

  • I'm 5ft 10. Its fucking gutting it doesn't fit. Well, it would if I swapped out the stem...

  • Looks small for 5'10 tbf

  • Lol, it is.

  • Gone to ebay
