Didn’t think to take any pics until we’d finished and packed up.
The firebird was fun. Neck pickup is MASSIVE and great for one-chord Magic Sam or RL Burnside style jams with a sort of overblown farty sound. Bridge is a bit thin and there’s something up with middle pickup as it’s super quiet. I’ll have to open it up and have a look.
Spend most of the night doing that or playing Little Barrie and Beatles riffs on my Epi Hollow body through the AC30.

I managed to convince a newish mate of mine to buy a new guitar. I've been enabling him as much as I can by scouring MarketPlace every day, last week I found him a sunburst MIJ Jag for pretty cheap.
We went to see local 60s popsters, Love Banana, a couple of weeks ago and he fell in love with the singer's 'Jazzmaster'. It was actually a Jag, he's only 29 (turns 30 next week) and adorably non GAS-y, the perfect victim.
The Jag was up for $1200, they let him have it for $1100. I let him have my AC4TV for what I paid, $150, a steal, so he's totally set up and couldn't be happier. It's a great day! Mission accomplished. I feel like a proud dad.

He's actually more of a poet than a musician but he's gonna take this rig to open mic nights, a new start for him. I hope it inspires him to new heights of creativity.
He's a good lad, I'm very fond of him.

Has anyone played a Hohner Pro TE Custom? I'm about to pick one up for £150 which seems very reasonable if it's as good as it looks... Not a lot of info online that I can find. I think it's a model III

Looks great. The binding looks nice and a bit of conditioning on that fretboard and it’ll be the nutz.

Guessing everyone who had looked at it got the same price drop email I did!

Recommend me a cheap first fuzz pedal? Baffling array of choice it seems, especially amongst the little ones on Amazon/reverb etc.
Going into a small tube amp, if there’s just a richness at one end and doom at the other that’d be great. -

I would recommend a Tonebender or a FuzzFace for doomy with some cutting edge, I'm not a Big Muff guy, too bass heavy for me. Unless that's what you want!

Sounds good. Currently watching a JHS vid about the different types of fuzz circuits. Fascinating stuff.
Like the sound of fuzzface.
Ideally something that does the job at lower volume lol.Now browsing fuzz face clones :)

It really is down to taste, fuzz can mean one thing to one person and something entirely different to the next! Even the same fuzz in different hands and played on another guitar will be totally unrecognisable.
I'd say make sure you've got tons of fuzz on tap, it's frustrating (for me!) when you run out of gain. Some form of tone control is good, mids and highs are where the crispiness is at. I like to run a hot amp with fuzz, clean guitar will get you a very different sound. But it's all subjective, init!
Go to a shop and try a whole load out.

I've bought from this small builder on eBay before and found them to be good. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/176494769044?_nkw=camelfish&itmmeta=01J61JW89W2S7GA8NHNZ8MRS3W&hash=item2917e87394:g:UiEAAOSwzHtmXJAD&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA4HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKm4NVOWF70BX02USY9B20Y5FFNch9Eh%2FbWdl3ss1EbTMJf96Fl3n3raZDTmxA1WBvKNIqh5HKBeyk5WXIs2tRC3YixpZhb3Z8dzxQfmt%2Bp9qA3BHsjRhK32h60vKQhIYh%2FlkricvBpsgGCHxDMxxZxuztQV8XA%2BuxAhqefVQOrIc%2BC7Vi46FkD7OcFzXHqoW%2BBDRZQVQ4tQSMKtRa2j3DRs0Q5VuEXhjVxpfLvanBae7P6jzhX1gdLT9sanEXy%2FLp5bzZJAUQiOnBYBDbW3yX6Y%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR4yF8bKwZA

For doom on a budget, this seems to be a winner:
https://www.andertons.co.uk/tone-city-matcha-cream-fuzz-pedal/
Pretty much the only time I’ll watch an Andertons video is when it’s Oz doing doom stuff. The Matcha Cream is a tremendous doomy muff style pedal and beat out some very expensive / famous fuzzes.
Evermore is very nice.
