  • I'd love to invite you to this event which my good friend Simon is putting on
    https://www.simplywhisky.com/shop/early-bird-ticket-fashion-whisky-wow/

I'll be helping out on the night but it promises to be a great evening.
It will be along the lines of their "night nights" they have done previously - https://www.simplywhisky.com/whisky-fight-night/

  • Cracked this open last night, Glenlossie is always interesting as it's such a flexible whisky for blending and finishing.

This one is maybe a touch too dominated by the cask, big vanilla bomb, one for the bourbon fans.

Edit - on second tasting with a touch less water added it's a lot more spicy toffee Christmas cake.

  • This is well nice. I drink bourbon all the time - Buffalo Trace, about 1 bottle a month. Gave this a try on holiday in Southwold and it’s delicious. Not the big caramel body of Bourbon but very smooth and balanced, no smoke, just as I like it.

  • Yeah, that stuff is great.

I did a side by side with Woodford Rye, and the Adnams is much better

  • Just had the final dram out of a long standing bottle of Balvenie 14 Caribbean Cask. Been nursing it alongside others as I have not wanted it to end and am loathed to buy the same bottle again as there is so much to try.

Not too expensive and maybe on the sweet side for some, but if you like a speyside this one gets my vote.

  • Would anyone like this bottle? It’s almost full. I’ve had a couple of drams so I’m just looking for £50. RRP £95.

  • While I’m here, these three sealed bottles also need to go.

  • Just cracked open a bottle of this, delicious!

  • Have a bottle of bunnahabhain 12yo 2023 cask strength that would be wasted on me

    Any interest for £55 posted?

  • Lagavulin 16 is £62 down from £83 on Prime Day.

    Caol Ila 12 £37 from £52.

Ardbeg 10 seemed to be already discounted (£40 from £50), which was my pick for a re-up after finishing the Askaig 8 at the weekend.

  • Went to cambletown and Ardnamurchen recently... not going to need to buy any whisky for a while.

Ardna was a great visit and beautiful surroundings but it really in in the arse end of nowhere

  • All the bunna's are reduced as well

  • I am not familiar with this, but it was £17.49 in Waitrose clearance stickered.
    Bargain I couldn't pass on

  • Tried my first Japanese whisky and loved it so I bought a bottle, £30 in Sainsbury's

Very smooth like a Speyside Malt with a touch of sweetness similar to bourbon's

  • Any opinions on the Ardbeg Uigeadail Ultimate?
A lot of dough in my neck of the woods, but it’s intriguing.

  • Bought 2 bottles of this on my way out of Heathrow, thought I would drink one, sell the other, but now I'm thinking, keep one, sell one and get my wife to buy another bottle when she flies out of Aberdeen to drink! Or should I just drink it and be done!

  • What’s to stop me just continually buying Ardbeg 10? At £40, is there anything similar/better in the Islay style? Or up to £60?

  • What’s to stop me just continually buying Ardbeg 10?

    Nothing.

is there anything similar/better in the Islay style? Or up to £60?

At ardbeg 10's price point there's not really much to touch it from a value for money stand point. I'd be looking at a laphroig 10 cask strength, bruichladdich port Charlotte 10 if you want to stay in the same world. Ledaig 10 or Longrow peated if you want to try a different peat offering to the islay style.

  • Thank you very much! I think I will definitely get another Ardbeg 10, but will also pick one of those up too.

  • Port Charlotte was lovely when I drank loads on holiday a few years back.
Really need to pick up a bottle

  • Yeah Port Charlotte is very nice

  • Another vote for Port Charlotte.
Further to my comment up there about the Ardbeg Uigeadail, I managed to pick up a bottle of that and the Corryvreckan for the price of what my local charges for just the one! Previously not allowed to ship across provincial borders, this has been relaxed recently.

  • I managed to pick up a bottle of that and the Corryvreckan for the price of what my local charges for just the one!

    What a score!

  • Yep! Still learning the differences between those two, I think the Uigeadail might be a little harsher? More testing required.

  • I think Uigeadail is a bit sweeter than Corry. Both really great whiskies but can’t stand a chance against 10’s value!
