I don't see any of this on twitter.
I just go on the Following page and I see people I'm following in chronological order with no extra posts injected. Same on desktop and mobile.
I guess some combination of browser and adblockers sorts it out

I'm seeing it in the app on my tablet, maybe I should just start using it via browser

Because I like to bookmark articles and posts as well as interact with some people
The place is a cesspit but still some great niche topics that arent really discussed in the same way other places

Enough about here. He asked about Twitter...

I think critical mass is still what keeps me there, a number of accounts I enjoyed have gone to bluesky but I don't want to have to go multiple places to have the same interactions that used to all be in one place. Having said that I have started using discord a little bit more but it isn't comparable

• #1107
So you are quite happy supporting the far right then?
-
• #1108
No but I am happy to interact with progressive ideas and individuals on there that help disseminate information that is net good to the world
-
• #1109
I've never really used twitter properly, but is there not also an argument that you shouldn't let the barstards win?
-
• #1110
They have won.

It’s a hell hole, owned by someone who uses his position to advance conspiracy theories and far right agendas.
Anyone who has a conscience should leave.

I assume you don't use any messaging services, social media services, banking infrastructure etc.? They are all used to facilitate crime

Quite possibly but I just found that example an unconvincing reason
Same as saying anyone still using the platform doesn't have a conscience
If you are just using it to follow trending hashtags and fight culture wars, then 100% that is not beneficial. However there are plenty of marginalised voices that it gives a platform to and positive information sharing that it can be beneficial due to the critical mass, until a new platform comes it's challenging, one of the main fields I follow has fractured four ways, majority still on twitter, others have left for bluesky, mastodon and linkedin, which now means there is less good discourse overall as its scattered and far less user friendly

Very few of them are owned and run by a white supremacist though.

"I like Twitter, therefore you're the hypocrite for having a bank account!"

I've been adding people whom I followed on Twitter as they join Blue Sky, seems to be a steady transition occurring at the moment.

I'll be honest, I miss Twitter, I thought it was a great service, but once Musk allowed people like Yaxley-Lennon and Katie Hopkins back, it was time to bin it off.

banking infrastructure
By and large banks go to quite a lot of effort to prevent this though.
But I take your point.

I don't know the political views of the CEO's of most services I use so couldn't comment but would not be surprised that many lobby against my beliefs and the interests of ordinary citizens. I 100% agree that musk is an oligarch at this point and using his platform to advance depolorable ideas and opinions.
Twitter is partially laziness on my part but to daily wade through the volume of newsletters, journals, substacks, trade literature etc is massively time consuming versus being able to quickly scroll through a well curated following feed

Blue Sky
Nothing really happened with Mastodon. What's Blue Sky about then? Same shit? I kind of like not feeling compelled to check anything any more. No TV license now either. No news is good news...
It's a type of abusive relationship.
(I kicked FB on the head ~10 years ago and Twitter when they banned all third party clients from connecting. The client I used [Echofon] showed the posts in chronological order, didn't show any injected "the algorithm said you should be interested in this post" posts, and didn't show any ads. Twitter was mostly OK when it was like this.)
