If you're OK to wait a bit, then you're better off doing it in the next month or two. Order turf and a sprinkler and watch some videos.
You have next to no chance of reseeding it based on your household and the time of year.

If it's clay soil maybe add organic matter before you try to put grass down again.
If you are starting over prep's well worth it.I recently got a dog so yellow piss patches are now a feature on mine, which I just try to keep moss and weed free now.

My lawn has always been a bit crap on account of clay soil, two dogs and a toddler. After 4 months of building work it looks like this.
What's my best bet for getting a useable lawn back? Don't mind putting some effort in. Inb4 rewilding, I want lawn.
