It looks like this form:

I rate these for the adjustable gap. Never used protective gloves, golden rule is just to not force anything, and don't let things get to short or close.

We call this The Widowmaker in our house.
It is good though

I’d recommend keeping your major blood vessels away from it.

What's the legal definition of a machete? It's about to be illegal to own one. The government says they "serve no other purpose but to inflate criminal egos and endanger lives". They have nothing to do with clearing undergrowth apparently. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-bans-machetes-and-zombie-knives
eta: I've found the law. I think it says that only 'zombie-style' machetes are illegal. A machete is 'zombie style' if it has a blade of more than 8 inches and one of the following zombie features:
"(a)a serrated cutting edge (other than a serrated cutting edge of up to 2 inches next to the handle);
(b)more than one hole in the blade;
(c)spikes;
(d)more than two sharp points in the blade (other than a sharp point of a kind specified in sub-paragraph (2))."In other words, an ordinary machete is not banned by the new law.
https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukdsi/2024/9780348256871 I wonder how many machete owners will be disposing of them unnecessarily. -

I think this one might become my favourite knife. Size, weight, balance all good.

"With no practical use" is the important phrase. If your name is Livingston or Stanley and you're attacking the bush with one you'll be alright.

I'm confident that my machete, which I have no use for, will remain legal.

Wandering round with the machete tucked in to your hoodie is a bit dodgy.
Or if you are me.

As it happens I've been sharpening my machete recently. I'll post pics when I've finished.

Bring back the (British) billhook.

What angle?

I’ve got a machete in the garage. I’ve never considered taking it into any shopping centres so it must be legal.

I think it's all a load of billhooks.

Congratulations on getting hitched.
Nice kit, but no mushrooms knife, how can you survive in the urban jungle without mushroom knife ;)
The closest my mushroom knife has been to mushroom is the Lidl veg isle. But I feel superior to everyone as I have a mushroom knife.

Though that a machete need a larger angle somewhere around 25, remember reading that and then never sharpening the blades as I ended up using a circular saw.

"I feel superior to everyone as I have a mushroom knife."
Golf Club and Vegan Deli-Counter in one sentence. Strong work.

It has two 15 degree edges, so it's really 30. My mistake. I've never answered this question before. It's an old folding RAF survival machete, badly chipped as if used to chop wire.

Thank you.
The icing on the cake is that it is a monoprix and was around 5 or 6 euros.
-
• #6323
Just talking, as I thought you sharpen each edge to 30. Have only ever read that on line so that is my source.

I just found out the hard way that you can't take an Opinel on Eurostar.
Bummer.

At least you have your zombie machete as a backup.
Cheers
