Sub uci almost finish !
6.68 as pictured. Missing left hood cover, front brake pads and bartape
Now I want to know how low I can go with 105 groupset but lighter chain, cassette and chainrings
For the moment it is full 105 exept the screwers that are shimano xt

Crazy stuff! In a good way, is there a post about this downtube shifter? Can't find it
-
• #430
The shifter support has been made a year ago, you might find the post in this topic...
I did not document the lever drilling but basically it's just a hole in a lever.

Truly a build for the culture
Chapeau! -

Looking amazing!
Out of interest, was there a reason for the Thomson seatpost given the WW focus?
-
• #433
The previous seatpost was a full carbon easton ec90. 6g lighter thant the thomson but it was made for classic round shape rails and the screw was three thread in with my oval rails tune. For 6g I chose security
short summary:
105 5700 levers and rear derailler
105 1055 front derailler, front shifter and brake calipers
105 5800 crankset, chainrings, pedals and chain
105 5600 cassette -

What was the motivation for the DT shifter?

taps thread title

I guess I’m just curious to how significant the difference between the DT shifter with stripped lever vs the full 105 lever.

Makes perfect sense. Interesting that the weight was so similar.
If you need to lose more weight, I put together a pretty light seatpost for carbon rails using a Chinese carbon post with the clamp hardware swapped out for titanium. Didn't weigh it separately from the saddle but think it was about 150g

Amazing that you got it to this weight with all that. Bravo!
Now with shorter valve extenders you can surely save a few grams. -

Lovely, what’re the bars on the giant?
-
• #443
Oh great, now i want an omnium again

• #444
The bar is a cheap fsa with this
-
• #445
Interesting connection, when Jalabert was using this frame, they were also having an STI lever for the back, and downtube shifter for the front!

• #446
Armstrong did it too. Saved a little weight I think

Forgot just how bad he looked on a bike.

found a better picture of STI for rear, DT lever for front for Armstrong:

Pantani too at one point, although I think he used a gutted shifter for the left rather than a different brake lever.
Also rode a right/front left/rear brake set up I've just noticed -

The 3T ergosum ltd is awful but really light. Not sure I can find a lighter "cheap bar"
The most expensive part is the fork that was the base of the build and the second one was the seatpost collar
I'll try to stay cheap for the rest of the build.
Stripped speedneedle is actually a good idea !
