• Bit of a sob story to start - in 2021 I had my first proper bike stolen from my house and I bought this bike on here to tide me over. Roughly 4 years later, I sadly need to offload the bike as I no longer have room to keep it. It got me through a tough time and I'd like it to go to a good home.

I got this bike with 14 speed shimano 105 with downtube shifters. I've since converted it to claris with brifters and tiagra brakeset. I believe it is now a Modern Groupset on Old Frame (MGOOF). You could probably improve on my attempt.

Size and frame info(stolen from previous seller):
Top tube centre to centre 57.5/58cm
Seat tube centre to centre 58.5cm
Seat tube centre to top 60cm
    Head tube length 17cm
    Standover 84cm

I believe its 1993, but very difficult to find information on it as I
believe it's a rare colour scheme (with it's sweet sweet fade) and
    'Team' branding.

Paint is overall in very good condition bar usual small scuffs and
scrapes. There is some paintwork damage to the back of the seatpost
which I've tried to capture, but it's of sight!

    Specs:

All of the below is new to this frame by me - you can find the previous spec list here if you want to make a comparison.

    • 2020/21(?) 16 speed Claris groupset
    • Tiagra rim brakeset
    • Vision Team 35 Comp SL wheelset no decals (fair warning bike shop keep telling me rear brake surface is very worn but both wheels run smooth)
    • 26mm Panaracer Gravelkings Road tan wall tyres (maybe 250/300 miles on each?)
    • Cockpit is all stock bontrager handlebars and stem with nice black bartape, relatively fresh
    • Really nice San Marco black leather saddle
    • Shimano Commuter SPD pedal things
    • 2 x lightweight white bontrager bottle cages

    BOTTOM BRACKET:
So, the slight issue with this bike is that something funky is going on with the bottom bracket threads. It's been the same since I bought it and is more noticeable when riding out of the saddle. I have just serviced the bottom bracket and it is holding fine at the moment, but one of the sides appears to be slightly stripped. Rat Race Cycles reckon there are things that can be done, including retapping, different type of bb or locktite. Someone with more talent and time than I can sort this out, but viewing is required to inspect for yourself.

    SHIMANO 105:
This bike came with full Shimano 105 (also pictured below) and downtube shifters. If you would like this for the purist build, I can pull it together out of my parts bin but it will come at extra cost as I can't strip the Claris at the moment and don't need it.

    PRICE:
I bought this for £240 but I would like £350 as a lot has changed on the bike, listed above. Let me know if I'm way off. Collection from SW11.

  • 50%+ price increase seems a bit steep in today's economy, especially as it sounds like the rear wheel needs replacing

might be worth adding what you changed that makes it worth that extra if you wanna get the extra £135?

  • Fair play, I have taken the price down a tad to £350 and have linked previous specs so people can draw their own comparisons. Inclusion of things like spd pedals and new(ish) tyres as well as a modern groupset informed my decision but we'll see if I'm in the wrong!

  • Yeah idk I prefer it how it was tbh - that modern stem looks particularly naff!
Edit: does look better with gumwalls tho

  • Price drop - £340
