Can't justify a hardtail in my life, tempted to add an eeSilk post and redshift stem to the grav bike.
Apart from spendy, any downsides to the new version of the eeSilk?

They throw bolts out: https://www.lfgss.com/comments/16162834/ so make sure you open it up and add threadlocker before using it.

Has anyone got any ideas to stop a USE Alien seatpost slipping (other than the obvious "lose 20kg") ?
I was thinking of trying carbon assembly paste on the curved 'base' to help stop the clamp sliding on it.

Anyone know which ones are available in a layback version please?

While looking around for Thudbuster options for the Surly (and a lighter elastomer for the Mason - anyone got an eeSilk #3?) I spotted there's a newer, longer travel version of the eeSilk, called imaginatively the eeSilk+ / eeSilk Plus. Same as the original with 35mm travel...

Got one of these off ebay. Seems to move a bit and then clonks to a stop. Anyone have one know how much travel they have or better yet what they look like at full compression?
EDIT: I was pushing it forwards. Idiot. Need to be on a bike to test properly.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VZpjLztJBM
Unfortunately it seems an allen key won't fit in the back bolt (rounded I guess), probably explaining why it was sold with the saddle attached! Obvs no mention of that little issue in the listing. :(
Anyone know if you can get spare bolts?

@BareNecessities may know

I think they're the same as Thomson bolts, in which case, I may have some spare
Will have a look this afternoon

Thomson has M5 x 40mm. I can't recall if the Thudbuster's were any longer
Edit - ah, is it the one with the funny shaped head that fits in the plastic screw that's borked?
-
• #40
You get the one that was listed as 200mm long?
-
• #41
I think I bought two but that's one of them, yeah.
-
• #42
It does have a funny shaped head, but it's not the one in the plastic adjuster, it's the one at the back.
Looks like SJS have spares. Bit fucking annoying the seller said nothing about it, though I should've assumed as much. They can either have it back or refund the cost of the replacement parts.

I was looking at that one but ended up buying a supposedly new one.
It's longer than 200mm right? I messaged the seller to ask but they never responded.

Oh right. I'd probably just get a decent quality M5 stainless bolt in the right length then, as I can't see you being a tart about how it looks
-
• #45
It's 300mm and I think it's the ST rather than the LT which it was listed as.

How very dare you!
I guess there's nothing special about it. I might even have something suitable in my bolt collection. Only problem is it will probably be Torx and countersunk which might not play so well.
I'm going to leave it be for now and see what the seller says. Annoying because if the doc says I can ride I wanted to use it this long weekend.

I think there's a load of ST ones listed as LT.
Cane Creek website sells the elastomers, properly labelled and matching them up the best way I found to identify what's what.
Pretty sure that one's a G3 ST.
The one I got is a G4 ST, I think the50mm travel will be enough for me.

I think I may have bought a G4 too, but I didn't really want one because they get slated due to the new clamp design. I thought it was the G4 I was taking a risk with not the G3. Seller says they're going to post new bolts out asap. I wonder if they're a bike shop?

Oh shit do they?
Hopefully I got a decent enough deal that I can shift it on if it’s a problem and get a g3.

Probs mostly from heavier riders using the single bolt clamps. I dunno about Thudbuster but I've not had issues with single side bolt clamps from Spesh so hopefully no dramas.
Carbon, 350mm.
Should show up today.
