my immediate thought re the sunk super yacht was perhaps the other vessel which was in the vicinity, and stated that they struggled to maintain position at one point, might have drifted into the yacht during the storm.
pure speculation and seems that wasn't the causal event as no collision has been report
Perhaps the snapped section of mast punctured the hull? That is not uncommon when boats are de-masted - some boats carry bolt cutters as emergency items so they can quickly get rid of a broken section of mast, which will still be tied to the boat by the wire cable mast stays...
