I've rode bikes for 20 years and I've had a few deals. This is only my second best but I can't complain!

And somehow the spacers are not the most odd looking thing about that bike

Just a bit of a rant. Decided it's time to rebuild my main bike this weekend -- something is creaking in the BB area, chain is done for (chain checker is loose at 1.0 mark), I'm not happy with stock 2x setup, brakes more squeal than brake -- you know how it is with used bikes. Done everything I wanted, including routing rear brakes cable through the frame (not fun at all with a steel frame with no internal guides; had to use endoscope and prayers to do it) and cleaning hub bodies just to find out that PC-1130 chain I just bought is too short. 38T chainring, 40T biggest cog -- and it isn't long enough to just make a loop, let alone route it through RD. Serves me right for getting the cheapest chain online with no OEM box.

This frame is due a trip to the powder coater before it assumes winter duties but I have no imagination. What colour should I get?

With an ongoing obsession to build a bike to last, I decided to order a steel fork to suit my needs. They only had the one left as dead stock. Will be a project modification to help make winter sessions more enjoyable with peace of mind.

That brown red purple is great.
Will also look good with those hot forks.

But what? 😬
Front cantilever with a long 1" steerer is a recipe for chatter, under-bracket U-brake is seized pivots waiting to happen. The Spengles won't like a tyre that goes properly with the frame because they're too narrow.

Puttering to the beer stands along the river bike? Or off to the pub bike? I did some touring on this frame last year and the stand over was a bit to0 high when i got into some rough stuff. So i built a new bike for that. All the bits where in literal stacks in my lockup so maybe i stick them together? Im pretty sure i can sneak a 35/37 if im careful

You could, but you could also likely sell the Spengles for enough to cover some wheels which would really work well with that kind of tyre🙂

I mean i have several wheelsets that will do that already. But the degenerate nature of this combination is lind of the alure…

Was able to muscle a 42 on. 35 may be a better idea but I’ll sleep on it. Drive side bb threads seem to be a bit wrong

Couldn't pass this up for £250... Saddle is mine bit apart from the rear brake cable its all functional. It'll need some nicer tyres and some swept back bars.
