Thank you.
I’ve ridden it to work everyday so far this week and that is unheard of!

Great bike and It looks like a beautiful route too.

We are currently in Wales and as normal the Brompton is in the car. It’s been in there unused since our trip to St Ives at Easter where it didn’t get ridden. But this time I was dead set on riding at least once. This morning we found ourselves in Llanelli and it’s on NCN4 so it’s rude not to. I got the bike out of the bag and FFS! the front tyre was flat a quick root about in the glovebox and bingo a mini pump, along with a multitool and a box of fast patches (we’ve stopped more than once to help a stranded rider go us) tyre pumped up and away I go.
The ride along the bay is lovely, smooth tarmac and it’s fairly flat. I stopped to take a few pics, I had a quick blast around possibly the shitist skatepark in the world, although the concrete 1/2 pipe as fun, how tight a transition though? I went down to the beach, along the waterfowl lake area and over to the lighthouse. Liz, Dolly and a 99 were waiting for me at the end so what more could you ask for?

I put the SJS back together earlier in the style of a Tracklocross bike and went out for a little spin. Much fun was had along the bridleways down to the river and back.

Revisiting this idea. No pedal strike, despite a bit of off road. Hmm

Hate to piss on the dumpster fire but that BB looks awfully low.
Had a similar idea not so long ago and according to my drawings a 470mm A-C fork with 451 20" would equate to 395mm A-C with 559 26" for similar tyre width.
I reckon 622 28" means round about 500 A-C with 451 20". Add another 20 odd mm A-C for a 406 20". -

I know it shouldn’t work, but it’s not that bad. I had a bit of a weave around and a little trip down the track and it didn’t pedal strike once.
I did a little back of the envelope working out and;
Original fork 369mm AC
Original tyre 700x23c = 668mm circumstance*
New tyre 406x50 = 506mm circumference*
I’ve also crammed a 700x32mm in the back = 686mm circumference*
So a new fork of >< 450mm AC should be spot on maybe? Unless I’ve lost the ability to count, which is quite possible.
The fork in there has a 437mm AC so not too far off?
The frame has a BB drop of 53mm.
If I do give this a proper go I’ll “just” extend a BMX fork anyway (like this Brooklyn) I’m just trying to see if it’s worth the bother or if I should go the extend the head tube route on a steel frame?
All input appreciated though, shout if I’m being dim.*diameter you idiot!! I know what I meant it was late ok, I’d been up since 03.40… and the dog ate my homework…
Thanks @young_gun

the numbers you are listing are diamater not the circumfrance. Split the difference in diamater in half and you get the drop. but the effective drop is 81mm so if you origionall had a for of 369mm AC (you sure about this height? Are you measuring to the crown race or the inside of the crown? Generaly 700c for is aroud 395-400 so fork of 475-480 is what you are looking for.

D’ho! Yeah I meant diameter! What a tool :/
Just checked and yep it’s listed as 369mm they are “track” forks.
Your working out is the same way I did it, the 437mm fork that’s in there isn’t too far off as a test fork.
Thanks for checking my maths (thumbs emoji) -

Its an improvement, maybe step up from a 2.0 to a 2.3-4? Gain a lil extra

Good call, a little extra cush would be nice too. I did think about a 24” wheel, but the load platform ends up too high.

Good old Gower, it’s surprisingly nice there isn’t it!

Back to more normal tinkering today.
I’ve decided on the Stonglights for the Kish, but need a wider BB :/
I’ve put the messengers on The Pest, done the cones on the Cooker and been fora spin and a coffee on the Sequoia. I’d say that’s a good Sunday afternoon.

Horrible frame bag gone! Everything greased and adjusted. I know I know the chain is manky, but steel ring, steel cog. I just replace it every January and put 3 in 1 on it when it talks to me ;)

Next up The Pest; #SFAB season is almost here so Trackloshopper is back. I had to borrow the chain from the Kish, this makes me sad. But #trackloshopper!
I did toy with the 700x40c terraspeeds, but that’s too tight even for me.
