If it’s a computer that hasn’t logged into that account before then it’ll be some form of multi factor authentication
It might be it gives phone number as an option to avoid inferring that there is no telephone number on the account. Similar to password reset things that say “if there’s a matching address then we’ll send it a reset link” - so that they’re not inadvertently providing a way of checking if someone has an account

The computer has logged in multiple times from the same location.
There is no phone number on the account, it is asking for a password I know is correct, and previous password. Very odd. Ordered a SIM card that will use once and then swallow ;)

Struggling to find an answer to this and I'm about to do my last run to the dump.
What do I do with builders merchant tonne sacks?
Or do I just take it to the dump and put it where they tell me (inevitably non-recyclable)?
Cheers

Is there an ebike thread? In the Alps at the moment and my partner rented a very fancy Scott solace e road bike - 12speed di2 and zipp 303s etc!
Therefore thinking about getting one when we get home but not a 10k one!
The more like a normal road bike but with a bit of assistance the better - seems like quite a few are hub based vs the bottom bracket based motor on the solace - is one better than the other?

is one better than the other?
Yeah, keep that weight unsprung and in the middle and keep your wheels standard.
-
• #123259
Would be a road e bike so unsuspended, but that was my thinking- also seems like a more reliable place for a motor rather than transmitting power to a spinning hub?

Still keep it central and wheels normal, then you can upgrade, repair and replace them easily.

What language is this
Did you ever work it out?

• #123262
The middle is sprung weight. The wheels are unsprung.

Indeed, and also irrelevant, I wasn't paying much attention at the time. But the important thing is get a mid motor whatever.

OT looking for a friendly local jeweller or silversmith..
I lost a cufflink years ago, and still got one remaining which I quite like (they were a present from family). I wondered if anyone here knows someone who could turn this into something I'd use or re-gift, like a pendant, instead of a lonely cufflink! Any ideas or contacts welcome.

Tie pin? Ring? Drawer pull? Fridge magnet? Start a trend by just wearing one cuff link?

Start a trend by just wearing one cuff link?
I remember back in the day when all my mates suddenly decided it was the done thing to wear cuffed shirts without cufflinks (not rolled up). which a) looked shit and b) was hugely impractical. yet all of them insisted it was the done thing and if you weren't doing it you were a relic in fashion terms.
after I pointed out that not one other person in the club was doing it over multiple weeks i was able to discern they'd all learned of this "must follow" trend from a single bloke at a wanky overpriced menswear shop in basildon town centre.
it lasted about another week before the whole thing fizzled out but the entire time i felt like i was in some weird emperors new clothes situation and i was the only person who hadn't lost their mind.

Is FB marketplace the most likely source for a used Asgard in London? And do they ever really come up? I’m not on FB so I’d have to ask around if anyone could do it for me anyway. There’s only one on Gumtree for £500.

Anyone familiar with UK customs code? I having a nightmare battling the effing useless HMRC site whose search function is shit and you can't get thro ever to an actual human who might have the correct info.
Code needed is for a used bicycle frame form the 90s made in Italy, frame/fork.and bottom bracket only, no other parts. The seller marked the item as clothing so it's been flagged.I've sent customs back paperwork and declaration saying it's defo not clothing it's a used 2nd hand bicycle frame, but they just said it needs a new code without giving g any clues as to what.
From what i can gather this comes under the category of unfinished vehicles, which i tbink comes.under section 8712. Guidance says it could be classed as finished if the bicycle consists of frame and fork and at least 2 of the following:
-set of wheels
-crank/gears
-bars and stem
-brakesSo as my parcel only contains frame and fork only with a bottom bracket it is clearly an unfinished vehicle, but then it doesn't tell me what the code for that is?
Anyone been thro this torture already and can help with codes? .id be super grateful, customs have already had frame for a month so it would be nice to finally get this frame and build it up before Xmas. Sigh

You absolute legend, thanks very much.
Spent over an hour battling parcel force and customs and got nowhere with no help, but the forum saves the day.
Genuinely thanks so much, much more of that and I'd have a seizure

Bookmarking this response for when my used bicycle [frame from the 90s made in Italy] is sent over in a few days!
EDIT: it’s been shipped and a photo of the customs form tells me it’s been coded properly.
Any reason that Gmail is asking for a phone number, there is no phone number on the account, to access my emails on a computer.
