My cat has caused my Kef LS50 2’s to have been taken away for repair by Kef Singapore yesterday- so possibly not auspicious as comparisons go!
With that said the cat, so far, hasn’t attacked any coffee equipment.
I wish there was somewhere local I could go to buy coffee ground with some different burrs- it’s a lot of money to simply YOLO.

If it’s a value for money concern then I would say no, probably don’t bother.

How much coffee are you putting in?
Mine came today!I haven’t fired it up yet, I’m moving home this weekend and waiting until I’m in the new place.

Had a quick session on the Gene Cafe this morning. Here's a batch of Yirgacheffe. Getting fairly consistent results now but it's so hard to hear first crack on this thing 🤣

That looks great. Now to try to resist using it all before it’s rested.

I had some extra coffee in my grinder from a shot and put some coffee in my mince for a burger.
It was very pleasant

Are you OK?

I hope you used a different grinder for the coffee and mince

The bomber grinder I bought off @HatBeard is an absolute game changer. Even without being dialled in, the clarity over my Timemore c2 is almost night and day. It feels mega solid, quick to grind, external adjustment - honestly pleased as punch.
HB - did you use the screens for the fines? Strikes me that it doesn’t need it.

Nabbed a Sage Precision Brewer from Facebook marketplace for £40 last week. I've cleaned it but the whole thing has that stale coffee smell. Anything I can use to clean it to get rid of the smell for good?
Also need to experiment with the settings. Couple of times I used it on the gold setting resulted in slightly sour brews which I believe means under extraction? Do I need to brew finer? Currently somewhere on the AEROPRESS of my Wilfa Svart.

Hot soapy water is all you can use, really. I’d be reluctant to try a dilute mix of Puly Caf in case it attacks any of the plastic or painted parts. Maybe try soaking the parts in bicarbonate of soda?

Baby bottle steriliser tablets work well in my experience. You can get supermarket own brand versions for very little money. 56 of the Tesco version are less than £2. Everything will need a good rinse with water afterwards.

Oooh I have some of these, thanks!

I use Puly Caff, it comes out really nicely, way better than just putting the Carafe in the dishwasher

The bottle has the dilution ratio for coffee brewers on it, put the amount in the basket/cone and then the equivalent water in the tank and run it. I then rinse everything a couple of times in the sink and also make sure to clean the hinged mechanism that caps the basket as that will get cleaned but you can't take it off to rinse it

That should be about right on the Svart, what were you using before?

can't go as low as the bargain niki got but price dropped to £140 posted on my sage precision brewer from previous page.

Yeah, I haven't moved it - I use the same setting (roughly) for all the pour overs I use.
Will tinker with some of the my brew settings I think, and get some Puly Caff.

I’ve never used the svart.
A picture of the pre ground coffee would be good to see

It sure is, and my bad for not getting any pics sorted yet. Do you want to PM me/connect me to your friend and I can get in touch?
I haven’t tried fancy burrs but I do know that espresso from my E80S tastes more detailed and delicate than espresso from my E65S which tastes richer and bulkier. Also when I put new burrs in the big shop mill recently the improvement was huge, so you should expect a noticeable difference.
It’s very difficult not to start making comparisons to audio upgrades, it’s that same level of diminishing returns and small deltas.
You will get used to any difference very quickly and might ask yourself whether you would notice if someone swapped the burrs back in the night, but I get the reassurance of knowing that you’ve given yourself the best possible chance.
