Perhaps we should gather some Ruislip acorns, this Autumn, and make some dotorimuk?

In that same series Gordon told a story where he was inadvertently poisoned.

I remember that as well.
Gordon 'not-a-moron' saved himself with some foresight. No detail to avoid spoilers. -

More of this, please. Made my day a bit cheerier gotta say.

He'd send it back, it would come back out with the offending flesh carefully picked off hoping he wouldn't notice.
That's just a classic. :) I doubt there's a single vegan who hasn't had that at least once.

I don’t think it’s economical to have a vegan, a gluten free, a veggie, and normal versions of similar dishes in most places.
Sure, but what is 'normal'? What's 'normal' to you here is most definitely not normal to me.

Whatever that shite along with chicory is not coffee.

• #89584
Oi, he is not. No where near. Do we lock will in a room to get him to finish his posts that Velocio funds?
-

Don’t want to get into an argument as to whether vegan/plant based eating should be the normal, which isn’t really the point.
I suppose you could replace normal with traditional, so you might expect a pizza / pasta restaurant to have foods containing wheat, cheese and tomatoes.
An ice cream shop to contain milk and cream.
A greasy caf selling bacon, eggs and instant coffee. -

Probably best to try some, buy some acorn flour from K-Mart, to see whether it’s worth the effort.
In my experience, Koreans kinda it, most other people trying it do not.
Also you need Olympic level chopstick skills to actually eat the cold, wriggly, slimy slabs of sadness. -

I thought German wartime ersatz coffee was made from acorns ?
Yes, apparently it's been made since the 18th century. A longer article in German here (look for "Eichelkaffee"):
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaffee%C3%A4hnliches_Getr%C3%A4nk
My grandmother used the term "Muckefuck" (pronounced roughly as 'mookafoock') both for Eichelkaffee during the war, as well as for Caro (made by Nestlé), which became popular in the aftermath of the war, and which she, like many Germans of her generation, drank until the end of her life.

Sure, it's just that people often use 'normal' in a way that reflects their assumptions. Almost nothing is normal. :)

So, how about those food allergies, huh?

Welcome to life dealing with vegetarians and vegans. If they don't go on about how do you know?
I went on three dates with a vegan and never noticed as she didn't steal my food.

another of those rioters fighting to keep the wrong un's out of the country.
" Newcastle Crown Court heard Groenewald picked up a paving brick or stone and threw it towards the police lines during a riot on 2 August, which was captured in body-worn footage.
Groenewald has 30 previous convictions including for affray, criminal damage and common assault and was on licence for a previous offence at the time of the Sunderland disorder. "

, as well as for Caro (made by Nestlé), which became popular in the aftermath of the war, and which she, like many Germans of her generation, drank until the end of her life.
We had Caro in the UK as well, my mum drank it in the evenings until she passed

How much did she have to drink to cause that?

Ha!

But I agree, I was a bit put out at the lack of trying to make me welcome on first time of meeting that particular branch of extended family
Yeah, this doesn't tie in with my experience of French people, I mean, professionally it's expected they'll be cunts but friends and family less so.
salad with lardons…
Funnily enough my wife's go to method of getting me excited about salad.

Yeh, a bit disappointing and I won't be suggesting we visit soon!

Putrid stuff
Dotorimuk is a common Korean dish, made using acorn jelly.
A bit of an acquired taste, but use of acorns isn’t that unusual!
