I think SJS do those BBs. Might be easier to replace like for like ?

Is what I’m thinking also:)

Just out of curiosity what chainset are you planning to use ? Bit of rust about, good job it’s not 753 :).

Not sure on the drivetrain yet
Might look at getting the whole thing refinished / repainted tbh -

Any suggestions on Retrobike yet, not checked
Unless it’s for a rat bike (looks too good for that)I think it would benefit from some protection. I’m from the 70’s and back then powder coating was awful. More modern powder coat is pretty presentable if you don’t want to go all out for wet paint.

Am nearly 60 so anything at least that old am happy to try and rescue :)
The paint (sick fadez) and decals are amazing, so a bit loathed to loose them -

Terrible pictures but hopefully you get the idea :)

I'm a bit older than you and am more used to bikes with a “flam” finish but I see your point about the paint :). I guess that’s a Nelson behind with the italienate seat stays

Ha ha, good spot!
It was also a lovely karma f&f (such an amazing fillet-based thing, think it’s a Welsh builder from the 70’s / 80’s?) that I’ve a nice full grey Xenon groupset to build up for a small family person (is a size 50/52), planned for next year :) -

Mavic threadless BB is a 45 degree chamfer, so should be fine. Not too many axle lengths available though.

Have had a Concorde machined to go Tout Mavic (running pre-starfish compact double) which made we wonder but this (bb internal facing) looksFeels less than the 45degree accuracy?

Some mindless folks fit a threadless BB without machining the shell and just tightening the clamping lockrings to buggery. That can mash the ends of the shell under pedalling loads.
Have managed to remove (without caustic, amazingly) a BB named ‘YST Corp’ which appears to have the same chamfered inner faces to the locknuts
The inside faces of the frame’s bb also appear gently chamfered as well
Does anyone know if a Mavic bb replacement would work, or, given the threads look quite worn (as the whole thing seemed to have been bodge-secured with a huge washer thing), should / could a threadless replacement be best?
