Drakes sales you can usually pick these up, I forget what the prices are but fair bit less than rrp

Or doom scroll through poorly described eBay listings. I picked up a bundle with some nice 60’s Dior and Liberty ties for about £20.

Yeah I went to the drakes sample sale at the start of the year (end of last?) and picked up a couple of ties but don't remember these - annoyingly looks like there was one at the end of July that I've just missed.

Read a great tip recently for anyone that struggles with jeans being tight on the thighs. If you buy them a size or two long, then the taper is more gradual or starts lower down on the leg, which gives more room higher up. Hemming jeans is pretty cheap, as I understand it.
On that note, Edwin are having a sale on a lot of their jeans right now. Can recommend the regular taper cut - https://edwin-europe.com/gb-en/sale?cat%5B%5D=163

Small waist, big (ish) legs here. I tried all the tricks but never got anywhere making slim jeans work. I finally caved and picked up some Pherrow's 451's for a cheaps in Japan and they're the comfiest jeans i've ever owned without being too baggy.
Problem is i now feel like jeans look shit on people with short legs no matter the fit and i have a pair of great quality, comfy jeans that i can't seem to pull off. Trying a roll up similar to the pics with vans/new balance and a decent quality black or white t-shirt but something is off.

You need higher rise to elongate your legs. IMO rolls on jeans don't really work with Vans or a pair of NBs - personally. But pics?

Slim jeans can GTF..
Edit to add.. slouchy flares ftw

higher rise
Yeah i've heard this, they sit pretty high and i don't tuck my t-shirts so not sure how much that would help. Also aware that contrasting/fussy shoes and/or roll ups can be a no no as you want to avoid breaking up lines. Best results i've had so far is to get some shoes with a bit of extra stack but i'd like to avoid the orthopaedic fashion. Current styles include the already trademarked 12 year old boy, i bake my own bread and why would i buy expensive jeans when M&S sell them for £8.
I'll get some pics later.

Mostly with you on this but it depends on how slim - my legs are skinny enough that Samurai S0511XXII look almost like 501s on me…

Anyone interested in one of these, size small? Brand new and I'm after £150

What is the forum view on shoes to go with an unconstructed suit - universal works, barena, officine generale, that sort of thing - so varying degrees of casual but basically unstructured, casual and not formal business wear.
this sort of thing:
Have started to wear these more often to work when not seeing many clients or my clients are remote, also quite like to wear them more often outside of work as well. Generally just with a white t shirt as well .
Currently, I am mainly wearing with white common projects but have some loro piana rip offs from scarosso that are great when it is warm and dry (this summer, basically only worn on holiday).
Should I be getting some new wallabees?

Having just come back from holiday I realised I was missing a few more linen shirts. Need a couple more for next year so can go full hugo.

I wear trickers brogues, shoes and boots(commando sole) or redwing Beckman and with mine as they are the right amount of formal but not trainer but also wear plain trainers (some flyknit Nike tennis things that are dark navy with no tick and white sole.
Tend not to wear smart shoes with them as the suits have no structure and are more workwear than suiting. -

I ended up with a short sleeve Arket number (£27 on sale on something). It's not bad! It's an oversized fit which means even the smallest size is hanging off me which isn't really my preference though.

@JB pics of shame below. My body proportions are less obvious if i wear a dark top but as i like the white t-shirt look i'm keen for any tips that might improve matters. I had the Jeans cut in store to sit on boots with a bit of creasing but now they're breaking in more it just looks a bit 90s Gap swamping my boots and it's even worse with trainers. When i roll them up i prefer the shape they take but there's that annoying horizontal highlighting where my stumps end. It's taking 3 or 4 turns to get them there so perhaps the next obvious step would be to get them shortened (jeans not legs)?
For reference i'm mid 40's, and have a pretty boring/casual wardrobe. My dog was the best fashion accessory because no one looked at me but without her i've gotten all self conscious!

They look great? Ideal fit in my personal opinion as someone who doesn't prescribe to trends and likes classic silhouettes. They fit you like a 1947 pair of 501s which is the ultimate pair of jeans. Look best rolled with the Vans and unrolled with your boots IMO. But yeah, I don't like multiple folds. I'd get them hemmed a tiny bit more so you only have to do one fold - personally.

I'd be happy with your proportions,

Looks good to me. Agree regarding jeans, shorter would maybe work better.
Also the t-shirt could be a bit shorter, but that's not easy to find. -

Bro you should see what my body proportions look like since entering the 40s. You look good.
The turnups don't work IMHO.

Weirdly the turnups were the versions I liked.
Horses for courses eh

Always a balance with loafers though isn't it, difficult to avoid looking a bit too pinky ring and gilet

Don't fire shots at my boy Loins like that (-: :-)
