https://lovingitvegan.com/vegan-victoria-sponge/ I use vegetable oil and Soy milk. Comes out perfect and fluffy without any of those fake egg products.

Does anyone know the 'Eat Plants Not Pigs' cycling club? Judging by their socials and website, they haven't been active for a few years?

I've got a hankering for a really good falafel wrap again. I'll be making my way from Penge to Barnes and back again tomorrow after work. Is there anywhere banging roughly on the way that would be worth a detour?

Also, whilst I'm here, I went to Mr Bao in Peckham the other night. My 3rd time there, it's so good! Not cheap but great for a special occasion. Not all vegan by any means but the vegan options are really good.

Have you been to Omni across the road?
-
• #10482
Yeah, a couple of years ago and I was really disappointed! It was eye wateringly expensive and absolutely nothing special. I've heard lots of positive things so maybe it was an off day or not their best menu but it's far too pricey to give it another go to find out. Although they did have a board outside the other day offering a tasting menu for £30 per head which is quite tempting.
I also saw that the premises are up for lease. No idea if they're moving or closing down.

There's a motion on the National Trust AGM this year to make a minimum of 50% of the food they serve in cafes vegan. Which is a very good thing as I tend to aim my cafe rides at an NT as they're one of the few cafes offering vegan options around my way.

I'm sure the culture war warriors will be out in force on this one. I can see the headlines now "Butter banned at National Trust cafes!"

It’ll be woke scones-ageddon with Restore Trust and the Daily Mail

Can recommend the chocolate, peanut and caramel eclairs at Cream Dream near Charing Cross. Like a snickers. They're a bit spendy but good for an occasional treat.plus you'd be supporting a Ukrainian business.

Went to the Allotment in Manchester last night. Really tasty tapas menu and great deserts. Love going to all vegan places. Good value too. Would defo come back.

This is a fucking terrible article:

why?

Complaints by lots of people that don't go anywhere near any national trust property.
But, as I'm not a vegan, does it really matter that more choice is offered? Don't understand the issue, as to me it is a non issue.

The thing with articles like the Graun one, and pretty much every regular media article, is that they always fail to talk about why the majority of us go vegan, and that’s compassion for animals. I mean, fucking lol at the ‘false’ for vegan food being the more ethical choice.

why?
Try reading it. It's incredibly facile, glib, poorly-argued, inaccurate and the writing is shit. It's the epitome of 'toss off 1000 words of copy you don't give a shit about before 5pm, would you?'

So, have we had the discussion - would you eat cultivated meat?

I think we have, and no, I wouldn't.

Me neither, but would definitely transition the dog to it.
Does anyone have a go-to vegan baking recipe they'd particularly recommend? Cheers
