I think the sentences for the online hate are clearly more harsh than they would normally be, but that's the point. These people are being made an example of to send the message that this behaviour is no longer tolerated.
During and post Brexit, racists felt emboldened and in my cases actively encouraged. Labour are saying, fuck that.
