Yes, if you measure over the tread

What about the manufacturers stated width.
If two tyres are 2.0 wide but one is a knobbly MTB tyre. Is the casing 2.0 and the knobs are extra? -

Is the casing 2.0 and the knobs are extra?
In general, the number on the side is the nominal casing width. Even same brand tyres won't necessarily be the same size in real life, and if it's different brands all bets are off. The actual size in service depends on the rim width too.

Very true I already experienced this with Conti mtb tyres and Schwalbe road tyres. Also Conti gp4000 was wider than the newer gp5000 (in the same sizes).
Best thing to do if you want to be sure is trying to find someone with exactly the tyres you're after and ask and also ask their rim width -

You can replace it with any 18650 Li Ion cell. If you don’t mind a bit of soldering, Samsung Li Ion 18650s are reliable.

pain dans la sac
«le sac»
Bloody Canadians who don't even know French.
And what's the problem with loads of bread in a sack? :)

Hmm, that could be tempting fate.
There is a seldom used Aldi/Lidl soldering iron in the shed.
Have removed the outer plastic cover to reveal the manufacturer's claimed capacity was 1800mAh. -
• #123234
You can't solder an 18650 unless it comes with tabs or wires pre-attached. Ignoring the dangers of trying, it won't stick unless you use extremely caustic flux.

Any idea if can take a bike helmet in my carry on hand luggage on a Ryanair flight? My bike is going back separately in van in a couple of weeks time but it would be useful to have my helmet at home in the mean time. If I'm risking losing it though, it can go with the bike, Ryanair website is unhelpful. France to UK if that makes any difference.

I have done before
-

I've taken my helmet, as carry on, on plenty of flights before.
If your inner tubes are in carry on, place them easily accessible and be prepared for security staff to mistake the valves for darts.
-
• #123238
Thanks both, I'll chance it then. No other tools to take, they can stay with the bike.
-
• #123239
I'd wear it, then there is more space in the carry on.

TVs. I need a new one as our current one no longer supports Netflix. I'm not interested in latest this and that, we don't watch enough decent content. It's mainly for the kids to natively stream Netflix. I'd like a decent snappy UI. I don't need a tonne of connectivity (wifi and HDMI is about it).
Will I notice a significant benefit between LED and QLED?For example there's this LED Samsung for £289
vs
this QLED for £425 -

Where was the posts about changing the battery in an electric toothbrush

Why not get a chrome cast or similar. Can do apps like Netflix directly without actually having to “cast” these days. A lot cheaper than a new tv
-

Is there a good bike box for a front garden that isn’t as secure and expensive as an Asgard? I’d be happy to use a D-lock inside somehow.
Edit: the Asgard twin with the end-opening is basically perfect in size and layout. All others I can find are side-opening which wouldn’t work. -
• #123244
Get a firestick or similar. That way you can upgrade that for ~£20-40 when the apps get too slow rather than £00's on the TV.
-
• #123246
Is it a recent one? Because they come with a remote and apps now so I doubt you need the tablet

• #123247
A firestick or Roku or similar would just use the remote, no phone or tablet needed. It goes in as an hdmi source so you just leave it on that channel then upgrade the stick as needed
-
• #123248
+1 to a Firestick or newer Chromecast with Google TV.
I'm a bit grumpy with Amazon, so I'd probably go Chromecast. But either can be used by a kid.

Chromecasts have just been discontinued, but are still great while you can get them. Come with remotes, or you can use your phone as a remote, out you can stream, there's a new handy chimecastesk device on the way but much more pricey
-
• #123250
Ah sounds good, I didn’t realise newer Chromecasts have remotes. I’ll see what I can find on eBay
Tyre width, does it include tread?
