Those woks will be mega seasoned - are you keeping them?

If I was still in the UK I'd have all that pro kitchen equipment off ya! Looks amazing, good luck!!

Thanks I’ll certainly check that out.

One of the first things to go unfortunately. I was in two minds keeping them, they were proper heavy and pretty old. I had no use for them though and they weren’t particularly clean

Ah man, I tried selling it but got to the point where I was going to be charged £1500 to get it removed. Did a nice swap on some of the fridges though.

After clearing the junk I was left with a relatively big problem of loads of old kitchen equipment that didn’t really have much value. Lots of fridges and old cookers etc. this is stuff you have to pay to get rid of and I’m allergic to that sort of thing.
I happened to bump in to a scrap man that does the rounds and brought him in to take some stuff there and then. He took the metal bunkbeds used by the ‘live in employees’ who mysteriously disappeared a few months back, some stainless stuff and other kitchen bits that could be hoofed in to a van. Nice little lot gone, a local chap makes a few quid too so I’m happy.
This left the massive 8ft tall commercial fridge that was stuck in the main room and several smaller ones.
Managed to do a deal with a guy who needed to find fridges for a dog charity in Spain. He took all but one of the fridges, they went to a lady helping dogs so pretty pleased with that too and even happier to get rid of the janky fridges. the chap offered to pay from the outset but I was just happy to move them on. He insisted on giving some cash but i noticed a box of white glass in his van. Must have been a karma thing, as they were an old set of matching set of pendant lights. Right up my street. Did a little negotiating and swapped the glass for the fridges.
I was told they came from the Greenwich picture house. They’re fairly large and will be going in the kitchen.
Please enjoy old fridge and light photos

From this point on we started to realise how bad the cleaning standards were. When you move something, such as a fridge or draining rack, there was dirt. And this was the least of it. I cleared up some of this before taking photos in my haste to get it sorted, was sprouting onions and all sorts.
It gets a hell of a lot worse when the kitchen was dismantled. Something to look forward to in my next post.

Blimey. Bet the food hygiene rating was pretty awful! Good deal on the lights 👍

Love the Chinese chopping board.

The recycling updates have been pure joy to read, love it when stuff works out like this. When it comes to relamping those pendants i can give you a few tips on what to use if needed (lighting designer...).

This is awesome….! The cleaning pics remind me of when I bought my boat🤮😂

Is the chopping board still available?

I'd honestly be surprised to not find that level of grime and grease in a Chinese restaurant kitchen

Was a 3 at one point, we found some paperwork from an inspection, was surprised it even got that. I think the guy must have been kind. One of the things listed was no soap or hand towels to wash hands. The sticker on the door claimed it was a 4. Quite optimistic

Thanks I have plans for it!

Please that will be helpful. Looks like they’re safe to use but will post them up here when I get to that bit. Have a few old lamps that need work for this project so if it’s no trouble i would appreciate some tips

I still have this but have some plans for it but will let you know if anything changes.
Unless if it’s worth loads then I’ll happily sell 😂

The guy that removed the kitchen said they’re all like this…

Following this very interest!

Mine isn't and I've only ever interviewed at one place that was in 20 years.
Edit: maybe there is a correlation to closing down and not giving a fuck about standards.

Very close correlation I would have thought!
How regularly should you deep clean under and behind fridge freezers, sinks and cooking stations? I would expect things to look a little grim behind a home range cooker thats not been moved, for example.
I don't actually know this, I guess there is a food safety standard for this?
Habinteg and https://cae.org.uk/ might be a useful place to start for access ideas.
